  9. A fetus is an incomplete form of a human being who is still in the womb and just like fully formed human beings; they portray the characters such as intake of food and execration of the wastes.
  10. The fetus has all the blood vessels and organs as the normal fully formed human being and their heart pumps blood, and they also inhale and exhale air from, therefore terminating their lives is equal to murder of a human being.
  11. Legalization of abortion gives an accessory to the murder of the defenceless baby.
  12. Abortion Involves High Risks to Mother
  13. Several women have ended up over bleeding, and this later result to be the cause of their death in case the fetus to be aborted is not expelled correctly from the womb of the mother.
  14. When abortion occurs through a crude method, it has the potential of putting the life of the mother to high risks and even causes death if no proper action is considered.
  15. There is a lot of pain and agony that mothers undergo when carrying out the process of abortion, this should not be legalized since it does not only terminate the life of the unborn baby but also risk the life of the mother.

  22. Against the Ethical Standards and Religion
  23. The fifth commandment in the Bible states that “do not murder” this makes it against the Christian religious belief.
  24. As per the Islamic belief, the fetus becomes a living soul after 120 days from conception day; this makes it to be impermissible action.
  25. The unborn baby is innocent and has not committed any sin which can deserve capital punishment. Illegalizing abortion is what put the worm at risk of carrying out a crude and illegal abortion that endangers their lives.
  32. The pregnant mothers, like any other person, have the moral right to determine what to do with their bodies as long as they are not minors and legalizing abortion will allow the women to realize their full potential in different areas such as education and career.

  2. Having unwanted pregnancies occurs as a result of wrong choices that are made by the parents, and the fetus remains innocents and should not be subjected to capital punishment due to the deeds of their parents.
  3. The unburned child also deserved to be given an opportunity to exploit their future just like any other person, and the abortion should not be used to cut them short before exploiting the future; therefore, abortion should not be legalized.

Reflection Questions

Learning to conduct research is important because it is a skill you will use both in academia and in your professional life. It improves critical thinking and empowers you to find information for yourself. Consider the process of researching as a whole. What was the most challenging aspect of the process for you? (2-3 sentences).

During the processing of researching as a whole, I faced problems associated with determining the pieces of literature and study articles to be used as authentic and credible sources when regarding the topic of legality of abortion in general. Secondly, I found it difficult to determine the effective ways of presenting my thoughts since I felt most sources had repeated information, and this made me use a lot of time going through repeated information. Thirdly, there was a challenge in regard to accessing some of the information since there were those which required me to log-in and paid for access to the article.

The working thesis statement is a proposed answer to your research question. It should clearly identify a debatable topic and take a position on one side of that topic. Analyze the effectiveness of your working thesis statement. (3-4 sentences)

I have a firm belief and conviction that my working thesis statement is effective and adequate for the research topic in this study. This results from the firm stand that the thesis statement takes against the legalization of abortion, hence taking only one side of the argument other than being double-sided. Additionally, the thesis statement goes ahead to offer some of the specific reasons supporting the argument that has been presented, hence backing the side taken by facts and pieces of evidence. The thesis also offers the general idea that I will take on this discussion to ensure that the reader gets to understand what side of the argument that has been taken by the paper.

A detailed outline is an effective tool for laying out the progression of an argument. It allows you to consider the arrangement and organization of your ideas, as well as choose places to incorporate outside source materials. Review your detailed outline and summarize the argument you’ve presented. (3-4 sentences)

In the outline of the paper, I started by providing the detailed introductions as I postulate of the major points to be mad then systematically worked on the body of the paper and then a conclusion. I started each body paragraphs with the major topic sentence; then these were followed by supporting sentences for further illustration. I also give the point for some of the counter-argument that might be represented to support the abortion before coming to a conclusion. In conclusion, I was able to offer a summary of all the points that have been made and offer the final thoughts that I have in regard to this controversial topic of discussion.

You will use the same topic on three of the remaining Touchstones in this course. What kind of feedback would be helpful for you? What are the specific questions you might have as you go deeper into the research process? (2-3 sentences)

I have a strong feeling that the topic that I have provided for this discussion addresses one of the most controversial topics in the current societies. Therefore, I will be discussing the relevant topic and offer as many points as possible to validate my argument and position on the topic. I believe these points will be enough when it comes to addressing and tackling the remaining part if this Touchstone until the completion of the course.
