2D artwork creation assignment
The title of the artwork is “Lyra playing girl” (2020) the girl is playing the harp sitting on aboard. The artwork was created between the years of 1908 and 1913, by Adolf Von Hildebrand. The art was created using sculpture; visual arts operating in three dimensions. The art was made of plastics. Stones, metals and wood-materials were used in creating durable sculptural arts before plastics were adopted. Sculptures made of stone stayed longer than those made of wood; this is shown by a great number of sculptures found. The majority are stone made and brightly coloured while the wood sculptures are difficult to trace.
Larger sculpture having found indicating religion of different parts of the world and how people valued their cultures, religion, politics and their legends and the creative wealth possessed by the communities. Sculptures found include the ancient Mediterranean cultures, the Chinese and Hindu social sculptures and other South American as well as African.
This image was created due to love of music and the harp. The artists could have been lovers of music and enjoyed playing the harp or listening to music. The other possible reason for this is the artist himself created the art in memory of a legendary harp player. The instruments found shows the socio-economical activities of the communities in which certain sculptures were found. The plastics, for instance, show the modern era, and the technological advancement at the time the sculpture was made. During the stone age, the and ancient times stone was mostly preferred as a long-lasting material, compared to wood. The history confirms this since the wood sculpture is indeed difficult to trace.
