SUBJECT: Challenges that arise and how to overcome as a Legal Administrator

  1. There are many challenges that Legal Administrators face as they do their duties. How the legal administrators manage the challenges they face is very critical towards measuring their success. As leaders, they are supposed to face the challenges with ultimate professionalism.
  2. The first challenge that legal administrators face is that their coworkers always expect them to be available at all times. Many coworkers will always have the notion that the administrators should always be available when they need their services. However, they forget that legal administrators have their work that they need to handle and attending to their lives. The workload that the legal administrators receive in their free time makes it very difficult for them to focus on work and still maintain a life balance. Legal administrators can handle such a problem by establishing clear boundaries. Hence, when one is having a break and receives a mail, there is a need to finish the break before replying to the mail. Moreover, the need to practice consistency, it essential to enforce certain boundaries that will be key in making sure there is respect from the coworkers (Smallwood, 2019).
  3. The second challenge that legal administrators face is that coworkers don’t take time to learn certain tasks. Therefore, most of the legal administrators constantly face pestering about everything. For example, where to find file folders and issues about time for a staff meeting. The existence of such interruptions can drain administrative energy and time. Legal administrators can cope with this challenge by adopting a “teach a man to fish” approach. Hence, when a worker asks for a particular supply from the administrator, there is a need for the administrator to show them where to get the supply. The other copping strategy is through communicating everything. That can be achieved through clear labeling and reminder emails.
  4. The most common challenge that most of the legal administrators face is having an exceptionally high workload. It can be linked to legal administrators having to provide many services to many different people—the existence of requests about new projects that occur anytime and with very short turnarounds. Hence, with all these factors, legal administrators find it hard for them to have good time management and work-life balance. Legal administrators have to make sure they have a well-managed calendar and office space. There is also the need for legal administrators to develop processes as part of their organizational system (Anderson, 2019). Moreover, the need for legal administrators to educate coworkers about certain processes that they may encounter.
  5. In conclusion, legal administrators should come up with better-coping methods to help them avoid challenges that directly affect them. The core challenges that the administrators face include coworkers expecting them to do everything. They also face the challenge of workload and coworkers, failing to know how to handle certain issues within the working environment. Generally, there is a need for legal administrators to come set up their boundaries, being good time managers, and also being flexible in teaching coworkers about certain specific tasks.
