Effective performance management
Effective performance management is a subject that keeps changing because there are new policies in place now and then. Initially, I thought that performance management is the rewarding and punishment of individuals in an organizational setting. However, with time I have come to appreciate that performance management is more than just rewarding employees and identifying their mistakes. Performance management is a continual process by which an organization improves the performance of its employees either individually or through teams. Performance management is usually in line with the strategic goals that the company hopes to achieve. Effective performance management, therefore, includes all activities that an organization can engage in to ensure that productivity rates remain high and that business is stable all year round. Effective performance management ensures that the goals of the organization are attained, and performance is at its best.
In my organization, I believe that performance management can help to ensure that employees are trained on various ways of handling tasks at work and to develop the necessary skills. Training is one way of achieving performance management as it is a way that helps individuals become better in their roles. In teams, training helps to encourage teamwork and professional integration. This could help to ensure that employees within the organization are better positioned to handle complex tasks because they are improving the skills that they had initially. Another area that my organization could benefit from effective performance management is being able to track progress and getting regular feedback. Majorly even when there are seminars and career sessions, no leader gets back to check on the feedback, and I believe that feedback is an essential element in any organization and any business because it is the only way that the leaders will understand and notice areas that need more attention.
