Achieving peace, justice, and strong institutions in society
It is possible to achieve peace, justice, and strong institutions in society. This is because UNESCO is working collaboratively with various countries, societies, volunteers, and people in society to educate people on violence and the possible solutions. For example, people in society are being educated about women and girls empowering to eliminate violence against women and girls. Women are required to access various effective and fair institutions to demand justice and important basic services. This helps in eliminating injustice, instability, and discrimination in the community.
UN women have been advancing the concept of inclusion and peace by backing women’s participation in all peace processes. This aims at supporting women in all nations to be in leadership, be involved, and benefit equally from the governance structures (Bebbington & Unerman, 2018). The implemented programs help in ensuring gender-responsive changes in security and justice agencies. Implementation and introduction of laws prohibiting violence against women and girls help in offering public services that entirely satisfy the needs of women.
There are various initiatives that have been developed to help in achieving the sustainable development goal of peace, justice, and strong institutions. National reporting initiative is a two-year initiative which was implemented to allow greater sharing of information on sustainable development goal reports between global, regional, and local societies. This helped in understanding the various issues of violence and conflicts which need to be addressed and the appropriate education required in the society. Collaborative data innovation fund initiative explains the available resources which work towards attaining the sustainable development goal in low and middle-income nations.
An initiative of the citizen-generating data task team helps in providing recommendations on the types of initiatives suited for various purposes. The team also provides guidance on ways of navigating and engaging in various activities to promote peace and justice. The team offers a forum for the people to share their experiences, views, and challenges concerning peace and justice in the society. Data4SDGs Toolbox is another initiative used as a set of methods, tools, and resources to assist nations to establish and implement holistic roadmaps of information for sustainable development goals of peace, justice and strong institutions. Data roadmaps are used in the sustainable development plan to support nations which are establishing stakeholder data ecosystems to support sustainable development.
It is possible to achieve peace, justice and strong institutions as people are being educated about violence, corruption and conflicts and the benefits of living in a peaceful and just societies. Peace is defined as absence of conflict and violence between heterogeneous societies. justice is referred to as notion to giving to all people according to their rights and the aspect of people to ensure that lawyers, judges, tribunals and ministries of justice ensure fair judgments and punishment. Educating societies ensure that people are consulted on the issue of conflicts and violence in the society and governments involve citizens in decision making with the main interests being on children, girls and women to protect them from any form of violence.
