CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION OF THE TERM PAPER (see canvas for rubric)
50% CONTENT: the content of this paper must demonstrate that the student has met the course objectives. The paper will consist of an in-depth review of the assigned medical condition, causes, and treatment options. The paper should also include current technologies in the medical field associated to the condition and the pharmaceuticals used to treat the condition.
30% ORGANIZATION: the format of the paper shall be presented in a sequential, logical manner with an introduction and conclusion. The initial paragraph shall indicate the purpose of the paper. The paper is written in the students own words (paraphrase with citation), format is as follows, define the disease/topic, state the incidence/prevalence, discuss the etiology, signs and symptoms, diagnostic tests, treatment, insight to the future, and specific websites or organizations applicable.
20% WRITING STYLE: Follow APA format, typed in Word, Times New Roman font, double-spaced, 1 inch margins, running head flush left and page numbers flush right. There must be a minimum of four pages and a maximum of six pages. Print on one side only. A minimum of four references must be used (including the textbook). Related allied health journals may be used as well. All information taken from a source must be referenced on the reference page. Attach reference page at the end of the paper.
Reminders: make use of the spell check, the thesaurus, and grammar check on the computer. Is every sentence a complete sentence? Does every sentence end with a punctuation point?
