The inventions in technology

Introduction

The inventions in technology that guided today’s advancements have come a long way. Various scientists played a significant role in influencing the evolution of the internet, with some helping speed up technological advancements. Charles Babbage invented a sort of engine that helped in the mechanical performance of calculations. This ancient calculator eventually became the forerunner for today’s electronic gadgets. His resourceful efforts enabled the evolution of 20th-century computers from carrying out complex analysis to being a unique means for performing multiple tasks, such as design and communication. Most experts support the fact that Babbage’s early invention helped speed up technological advancements in the 20th century. According to the article ‘Technology and the Individual,’ technological advancements in the last 200 years have been influenced and accelerated by inventions brought about by different inventors. The report acknowledges the contributions of specific inventors who are the forefathers of modern computers and technology. The article describes these inventions as a collaborative effort that enabled modern internet inventions.

Summary

The first claim in the article is various individuals influenced internet invention. It took the collaboration of multiple researchers and professionals to develop the internet and technology to what it is today. For instance, inventor Babbage’s original calculator design has guided other inventors to develop today’s computer applications, as many consider it. Another fundamental inventor is Guglielmo Marconi, an Italian inventor, and the radio forerunner. He came up with means to transfer information signals across the globe. This later inspired the development of the internet and the developments in communication and IT (information technology) sectors. While researchers worked to create a unique e-mail system (Ethernet) for use among workers at the copier organization, Xerox PARC, various technology professionals were also designing the internet infrastructure. This is referred to as TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol). This is the evidence for this claim, which explains the way companies have taken an active role in advancing technology. The advancements from wireless telegraphs to wireless internet, Babbage, and Marconi’s inventions proved necessary in guiding the design of communication systems that work and convey messages with excellent efficiency.

The second claim is that it is atypical for one scientist or researchers to operate solo at a given time. This technique of working alone to generate innovation is mostly known as sheltered important. Sheltered innovation enables an inventor to express creativity without the influence of ideas of other scientists. It also helps evoke the nostalgic picture of the ‘garage innovator.’ Various technologists hold a belief that this method of product development enables the expression of the utmost creativity. The evidence for this claim is that the co-creator of Apple/Mac computers, Steve Wozniak, believed that innovators are similar to artists and operate optimally when in solitude. Despite supporting working independently, Wozniak played a significant role in being one of the ‘brain hubs’ of Silicon Valley. Other internet specialists, such as Steven Johnson, support another approach to creativity. Johnson argues that ideas should converge or brought together, which is not possible while someone works alone. He calls this convergence of great minds combinational creativity, a term that was first defined by Margaret Boden, an AI (artificial intelligence) pioneer researcher. However, Boden agrees that working in solitude is key to creative exercises. Her technique kind of closes the break between Wozniak, the independent inventor, and Johnson, the team player. Whether innovative processes are carried out by one person or a team, it is clear that technology globalization has developed a change in the ways people communicate, interact, carry out business, and work. Based on global research, whereas over 90 per cent of the worldwide population own cellphones, over three billion individuals are internet users. The number continues to expand, changing how people from different parts of the world interact and work.

The article ends by mentioning that today’s technology, including computers and mobile devices, is a direct outcome for generations of inventors, technologists, and engineers. Their contributions, despite beginning in garages or ‘brain hubs,’ have separately and cumulatively influenced our lives.
