Working with my instructor and the other staff members at my practicum was just amazing. I managed to capture a lot of basics on professionalism like setting goals as well as how to handle certain work-related situations. Ideally, I pride myself on going through this practicum since I have had the opportunity to become more confident in my field.
It is also a guarantee to help in the future in the sense that, I am much more prepared for what to expect in a work environ. Initially, I had little expectations about the practicum since I did not know it was going to influence my career goals. Nevertheless, working in such a positive environment has influenced my choice of working for such organizations again.
I have also managed to establish strong relationships with other staff members and this has in several ways influenced my abilities to solve problems as well as acquire other important skills. My professional skills have greatly improved which I find very useful in making critical decisions.
The practicum experience has generally helped me understand the significance of ethics in all working environ. It has enabled me to incorporate organizational and personal values which are vital in every workplace. I now have the ability to analyze dilemmas as well as apply the best critical and informed decisions. I can confidently apply the principles of value-based leadership in any business setting.
Ethical issues have had major impacts in many organizations today. However, most organizations have managed to set out certain protocols that must always be adhered to. Information technology, for instance, has a wide area of applications like health, banking sector, education, business, and industries at a large level. As such, it is essential to have knowledge of the main negative impacts of information technology, privacy issues, and security issues.
From my work experience, I have been able to learn that personal privacy is a vital aspect of ethical issues in many organizations today. Many staff members, for instance, value their own personal privacy and most will end up offended if it is crossed. Similarly, IT facilitates the users having their own software tools, operating system, or hardware to access the servers connected to users by the network. Since network distribution is always on large scale, large data transfer normally takes place and this may lead to hidden chances of disclosing vital data which is a violation of the privacy of any group or individuals. Maintaining the integrity and privacy of data has been a major challenge for organizations and the IT society.
Working as a senior UI developer, I have learnt that engaging in harmful actions such as loss of property, destruction of property, loss of important data, and loss of ownership have serious impacts. The principal of ethical conduct requires that such vital information is kept safe by restricting the number of people who can easily access the data.
