Personal statement
I was recently waitlisted for the Master’s Program in Energy for Sustainable Development. I am writing to express my continued interest in University of Rwanda. I am particularly drawn to the University’s Center of Excellence in Energy for Sustainable Development (ACE-ESD) —Approved center of excellence envisioned to address key economic challenges by delivering quality post-graduate education and build collaborative research capacity in the Eastern and Southern Africa sub-region.
I want to sincerely thank the admissions committee at the University of Rwanda for reviewing my application and considering my candidacy. I am incredibly excited by the prospect of attending University of Rwanda and would gladly attend if admitted. Throughout my college search, I saw that it was the right fit for me, because this particular program is will be a significant step in achieving my professional goal: working on projects as a technical consultant for renewable energy. I believe it will be my chance to enrich my knowledge and offer professional growth in my field.
I am particularly interested in learning more about methods and techniques applied in practice to develop resource-saving techniques. I would also like to specialize in the development of geothermal energy systems which are gaining more significance in Kenya. I hope that my previous studies and experience have given me the expertise to think inversely about finding solutions to issues in the energy sector.
Throughout my college search, I have felt that University of Rwanda is unique among its peers within East Africa region, particularly for a student with interests in energy for sustainable development. Thank you again for your thoughtful and comprehensive consideration.
Sincerely,
James Karimi Njuguna.
Graduate Mechanical Engineer.
