SHOULD DRUGS BE LEGALIZED
Introduction
Drug and substance abuse has proved to be a glaring menace facing many youths in the united states. Like a majority of people, I agree with the proposition that recreational drug use should not be legalized. This is because supporting this act would be endangering the lives of many youths especially those at the prime of their adolescence. The extent of damage caused by drugs to our youths is should call for the implementation of proactive laws both usage and availability of drugs. Our intention is not to excruciate those who are already using it with psychological distress but not to push them to the other edge of the precipice.
Discussion
I am pretty aware that there exists a group of perverted individuals with a controversial opinion concerning the illegalization of recreational drugs. Most of them are either drug users or drug peddlers. Those who propose the legalization of drugs argue that drugs help to reduce criminality and using them would minimize the temptations to use them. This idea is far from logical. This act will make drugs easily accessible to the younger children, those who are battling with addiction and those who are ignorant. The outcome is always a negative one. The results of legalizing drugs and substance use would be devastating and impact society badly.
Among the alarming concerns of drug-related effects is the rising rates of juvenile crimes. Legalizing drugs would add to the already detestable problem faced by society. Other rampant problems faced by society such as increased school dropout rates and homelessness will be on the rise. As long as we allow drug abuse to coexist with us, crime will always project to devastating lengths. It is no doubt that no society in the world would advocate for the rise of such social crimes. The thought of how these vices would impact our nation if swift legal actions are not taken cannot be imagined.
Drug abuse has been reported to be a possible explanation for the rise in the cases of biopsychosocial problems in youths. According to statistics concerning drug abuse in the united states, children begin experimenting on drugs as young as 11 years. Many middle scholars have already had their first exposure to alcohol by seventh grade. The usage of drugs chronically affects the capacity of youths to execute sound decisions. Most drugs contain an active substance which affects hormones and neurotransmitters in the central nervous system. This is responsible for unstable moods and polarized feelings which makes youths to be antisocial.
Conclusion
I strongly believe that there is quite a great deal of morally upright youths who have never been involved in drug abuse practices and afraid to be apprehended for the same. If by any chance they are deprived of this innocence, they would end up being drug addicts. It is therefore a responsibility of our country to do right to society by formulating a few basic standards to keep the drug abuse problem at bay. The legalization of any recreational drug would signify a mediocre approach to eradicate drug abuse pandemic and a great level of ignorance of the impending problem.
