Sebastian Bach
Bach is one of the most prolific music composers who wrote a vast amount of music ranging from organ keyboard, solo works, orchestral work, and vocal works. Notably, until his death, Bach had over 1000 compositions. Further, Bach had a large family that constituted 2 wives and 20 children. However, the most exciting thing that caught my attention is about a large amount of music that he wrote. Bach was a working musician throughout his life (A Complete Introduction to J.S. Bach, 2019). Notably, Bach served as a church organist denoted by the large music based around the German Lutheran service. He also wrote over 200 chorale settings and chorale preludes, which are characteristic of Lutheran hymn tunes (A Complete Introduction to J.S. Bach, 2019). He was also a music teacher and a director of orchestras and a director of choirs.
Bach’s organ music composition also included Toccatas, Fantasias, Preludes, and Fugues. A famous organ work written by Bach is the “Gobukline,” which consists of 45 short chorales and offers guidance on how one can develop their chorales and improve their organ pedal technique. On his contribution to keyboard music, Bach composed several suites revealing the impact of diverse national styles, including English suites, French suites, and partitas. The most renowned Backs keyboard works are the two volumes of the well-tempered clavier, whereby each book consists of 24 preludes depicting the major and minor keys. Bach is also a renowned vocal musician, whereby he composed music for the churches in Leipzig (Stories of Great Composers – J.S.Bach, 2016). He also engaged in chamber music by writing 15 sonatas with a harpsichord. Bach also composed orchestral music based on the Italian movements and styles.
