Child development
Child development is a vital phenomenon in the life of young ones. However, the development processes differ from one child to another as kids’ developmental stages have varying growth stages depending on the level of exposure as well as the nature of their background. Moreover, since different children develop differently and in their special way, it is challenging to conclude exactly how and when they perfect in various skills. Additionally, the children’s developmental skills lie under five categories, which are cognitive development, social and emotional, speech and language, fine motor skill, and gross motor skill developments (Amy, 2019). Moreover, growth checklists differ in terms of children’s age. In this case, the list belongs to Anna Smith, whose age is between 4 and 5 years.
Children in the age of 4-5 years learn through play. Moreover, Anna has substantially developed as she can manage to stand on one foot for seven seconds, which is less with 3 seconds to reach the recommended level (Development Checklist -4 to 5 Years, n.d). However, she would have made it if she was given another trial and was separated from distractive scenarios. Another reason why it is perfect to say that Anna has substantially grown is her ability to dress and undress without assistance. Moreover, from the observation, Anna is a bright child. At her age and she can copy triangles and other geometric patterns, it is an indicator that the child is golden (Webmd, n.d).
Additionally, the fact that the child can print letters such as a, s, n, t, r, l, and m, which are difficult to understand for most of the children at her age, is a clear sign that she is bright. Another observation from Anna’s development assessment is that the child is a quick learner. From the report, it is evident that Anna can manage to write some alphabetic letters which she must have learned from other people. Additionally, she also indicates her competency in creating sentences with five letters.
Anna’s development observation illustrates that she is experiencing healthy growth. Moreover, she expresses various strengths. First, she possesses an improved cooperative character. This aspect is evident from her assessment report. Furthermore, it is clear that when the teacher orders the children to go for the cleaning session, Anna does not fail to obey the teacher even though at the beginning she seems to delay as she is absorbed into the book that she is reading. This character also shows that the kid is principled. This aspect is because she decided to, first of all, finishing up what she was doing and then progress with the next activity.
Another strength that Anna possesses is social. From the assessment report, it clearly illustrates that the child has adequate social connections. This phenomenon is shown in her assessment report. From the description, Anna has developed the habit of wanting to please friends as well as spending time with them. This phenomenon is due to the things she loves doing when she is in the midst of those children, which would include playing together and engaging in other childish games.
Moreover, Anna is also more likely to agree to rules, but she requires guidance for her to recognize the kind of rules. Besides, the child has also developed the character of loving songs, dancing, and acting. This action illustrates the advancement in social strengths that the child has.
Children have both long and short term goals. However, this phenomenon differs from one child to another. For the case of Anna, her major short term goal is to be happy. The child values happiness so much that she like being together with her friends. Moreover, this aspect is evident from the analysis report, where the assessment report indicates that she is ever smiley and happy. Furthermore, she also quite active in class and always engaged during lessons. Moreover, the children have a unique character where she still takes pleasure while helping people an aspect which gives her more happiness.
Children have various long-term and short term goals in life, which can easily be visible during the development assessment stage. However, in the case of Anna Adams, the child possesses the interact and get along socially with peers. This aspect is quite clear regarding Anna’s situation. From the social milestone, she always wants to be with friends and playing with them. Moreover, it is evident that when the teacher tells the kids to go for a cleaning, the other children obey while Anna is left behind with her friend as she shows her some pictures on the book. This aspect indicates a strong bond that Anna has with friends.
Children’s development stages occur at different intervals. Moreover, the main idea of the evaluation of child growth is to realize if the kids are improving on various aspects, including movement, language, and cognitive. Moreover, the information is vital for parents to understand the nature of their kids and enable them to realize the kind of support they deserve to give to them. Children’s growth, both physically and mentally, differs from one child to another. However, their strengths, as well as weaknesses, vary from one child to another and play a major role in their development processes. They also possess long-term and short term goals which they achieve in life. Children’s development assessment methods should be highly recommended at different stages of childhood development.
