The United States Congress introduced the bill Protecting Domestic Violence and Stalking Victims bill in 2017 to amend title 18 of the United States Code in order to protect more victims of domestic violence through preventing their abusers from receiving or possessing any fire arm. The bill provides regulations upon unlawful sale of firearm to persons subject to court orders regarding domestic violence cases. Particulars handed a court order and who have been restrained from possessing a fire arm are listed to restrain then from harassing, threatening, or engaging in conduct that can put an individual in fear or threat (S.120 – 116th Congress, 2020). The bill restrains the suspect from interfering, dissuading and interfering with a witness from testifying in the court of law. The bill includes amendments of the Sales or other dispositions of firearms or ammunitions to be more inclusive.

Domestic Violence Public Health Emergency Act- State Bill- H.R. 6633

The bill mandates to provide guidelines to enforcement agencies in their response to the increased cases of domestic violence exhibited in the COVID-19 public health emergency (Gottlieb et al, 2020). Through the Attorney General, there shall be identification of best and promising measures to address domestic violence, and include mitigate measures in handling domestic violence cases during the COVID-19 period in preventing exposure by the enforcement officers (H.R.6633 – 116th Congress).
Fair Housing for Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Survivors Act of 2019- State Bill- H.R. 5531

The bill mandates the provision of protection for survivors of domestic violence or sexual assault under the Fair Housing Act. The bill introduces by providing findings in cities, towns and rural areas regarding domestic violence and sexual assault (H.R.5531 – 116th Congress, 2020). The Bill introduces the terms “Domestic Violence” and “Sexual Assault” as per the meaning at the Violence against Women Act of 1994. The bill seeks to assist any domestic violence of sexual assault survivors and maintaining, securing and providing them with proper form of housing.
