Health Care
Q1a.We think of health in terms of health care and personal behaviors mainly because of factors in our economic, individual lifestyle, and the society in which we live. Mostly it is because of personal connections, relationships, and outcomes that health disparities in the community develop.
I b. the sources of these messages are from the environment in which an individual is born, in, lives in, and relates. Two main factors give rise to these messages, namely the physical and social factors. The physical and social factors significantly impact the path to accessing good health. Previous research suggests that it is a high disparity in areas where people have less access to employment, finances, education, among other things. People have a hard time trying to stay healthy. From the video on unnatural causes, societies with low resources, high crime rates, and low social-economic status have limited opportunities to improve their health conditions. Besides, individuals who encounter these disparities in their everyday life have high chances of getting stresses and later chronic diseases. A person who lacks finances to pay medical bills is likely to fall sick; therefore, the person cannot stay healthy. The lack of funds could be due to a lack of employment, which is mostly fueled by a lack of opportunities for better education (Bilheimer & Klein, 2010).
1 c. All social, economic groups are bound to benefit from these messages. To help individuals and society as a whole should for better use of the information and channel it to the right activities. From the unnatural causes video Ca schools and other educational institutions depict an excellent example of change. Apart from creating awareness, schools should teach students how to be agents of change. Therefore the best way to benefit from these messages is to use the words to the best of our advantage. From the look of things, economic status determines the availability of tools, and these messages will likely support the higher socio-economic groups. To prevent disparities, we can use advocacy and awareness as a powerful tool to fight against the inequalities.
Q2a. The social and economic structures that encourage and support healthy choices include communities, workplaces, neighborhoods, homes, and schools. In case health and general well-being procedures are taught to children at a young age, it can motivate then even in their adult life. Besides, it can enhance their financial health as they progress to adult life. The research was conducted to determine the approaches that can be used to eliminate health inequalities and maintain that to improve health policy and practice.
Even though the approaches are established, there is minimal effort to evaluate their impact. Also, there is ignorance regarding the integration of the strategies into the local area planning. Other problems arise when it comes to giving the community to lead the interventions. Community efforts are usually grounded. If only the local community is given a chance to influence and control the responses, health inequalities associated with physical activity can be addressed with no doubt.
2 b. some of the social and economic structures have nothing to do with individual choices but affect health. The best foundation of health is established at the very early stages of an individual’s life. Therefore health problems at an early age, like lack of emotional support, can lead to issues such as problems in thinking and solving puzzles by themselves in the adult ages. Also, the child could have a poor connection with others at school and in society. Therefore it can pose a more significant threat to the child’s growth.
Q3a. “Just” is the act of behaving according to what is morally right and fair.
Q3b. In my view, it just is not the right term to use. Even though many protests and advocates fight against inequalities, there is still a more significant percentage of people living in the societies with these disparities, “just” should be evaluated at an individual level rather than at the community level. Some gaps, such as lack of opportunities to access education facilities, are still witnessed in society. Many people even die chronic diseases because they cannot access health care facilities. In workplaces, employees are continually complaining of low wages as well as other poor working conditions. As much the government is trying to distribute these resources to all people in the society, there are still underprivileged communities with different problems that need to be addressed; that is why I find it inappropriate to say that justice and fairness thrives in the society.
Q4a. a few policies should be enacted at the local, state, and international level to reduce the economic and social disparities. Some of the plans include increasing employment opportunities to people and increasing the current minimum wage to a more suitable one to enable people to meet their cost of living. Also, building more assets is required for people who are profoundly affected by disparities. Other policies include investing in the education system, doing away with housing discrimination building, and more health care facilities to cater to each individual’s needs.
Q4 b. A more equitable society has more prominent economic support against inequality. The characteristics of an equal society include a considerable elimination of stress on people by eradiating disparities in society. These disparities can impact an individual and the entire community physically, mentally, financially, and socio-economically. The American Psychological Association came up with an editorial that critically explains the positive attributes of having a equality in the society. Therefore, a good society is socioeconomically equal because strives to ensure equal education opportunities to every individual, access to health care facilities, and a reduced number of chronic diseases. Lastly, the society can provide leisure opportunities to its people and enough resources (Davey, Hurst, Smith, Grogan & Kurth, 2011).
Q4 c. To ensure an equal socio-economic society, leaders and advocates of the community should step up high and fight for justice and fairness. Democracy should be fought for and people given freedom to express their grievances. Besides, people should be given the right to choose their desired leaders. Statistics show that only 1% of the wealthy people have power and authority over these resources and it show that wealth has power. Meaning that disparity in the society is still prevailing and the best way to ensure an equal distribution of resources such as transportation, health care facilities, employment and education is by fighting for them,. Instead of these resources dwelling in the hands of the upper social class alone, it should be distributed equally in the society (Ryan, Singh, Hentschke & Bullock, 2018).
