Hats of Data Visualization: The Scientist.
Data visualization is a crucial action in the extraction of knowledge from semi-structured and unstructured data. It involves the formulation of figures and charts that give the researcher a more comprehensive view and a more in-depth insight into a given phenomenon. It requires the visualizers to have various skills to enable them to gain the required quality from data and develop an item showing reliable accuracy. The ‘seven hats of data visualization’ is a breakdown of the different capabilities that make up the multi-talented visualizer (Kirk, 2016). The visualizer needs to have diverse techniques and abilities to operate on the diverse features in data.
Among the attributes of the visualizer is the ability to think critically about an event. This quality describes the hat of visualization that requires the visualizer to act like a scientist. It is required that they provide scientific validity to ensure that the data remains critically analyzed. They would ensure that the process continues at a robust research attitude. The scientific nature of the visualizer enables him to understand the visual perception qualities as described scientifically in data. It is their role to act on the structures in data that deal with visualization, statistical work, and data ethics.
The visualizer would be able to evaluate the impacts of the various human factors affecting given scenarios and verify the integrity of all data and the effectiveness of design decisions. They would understand the building blocks of data structures and study the problems using the system’s thinking approach. They must undertake a reflective evaluation and critique (Kirk, 2016).
