What attracts young people to become doctors?
Personally, in my teenager’s ages, I never thought about being a doctor, but I think I can imagine what attract young people to become doctors. Firstly, technology and health service are the most important things a country must focus on. Both can improve at the same pace in order to make easier the health of the countries’ people. Secondly, I think one person must be very proud and self-relieved after saving one’s patients life or at least improve her or his health.
How do you think studying medicine might be different from studying other subjects at university?
I think the degree last more years than the rest of the degrees, in Spain I think medical studies last six years whereas the rest of degrees usually last four years. They have compulsory work practises in hospital at the end of their degree, and they have a very well-known exam in their fifth or sixth year (I don’t remember well) in which they risk their future workstation at health service.
