Luthuli Avenue is a business street that is located in Nairobi next to the Kenya National Archives. It is well known for a beehive of activities and many businesses that are transacted along the street. As the day breaks, thousands of pedestrians are seen walking along the avenue and it ended up with much congestion. The old displeasing look and anonymity will soon be forgotten as people embrace the new look which has become an apple to their eye. The renovations and restructuring are courtesy of the county government of Nairobi, the united nation among many other stakeholders. Luthuli Avenue is now braced with many tall buildings, renovated and well painted pave ways. There are also wider sidewalks, trees and benches which make it more presentable the before. The new-look has paved the way for various changes in different sectors which include business changes and change in behaviour.

1.Restoration of order
The street was previously too noisy and very chaotic. Passengers crossed the road recklessly and there were also many bystanders. With the upgrade, there is the restoration of order that is emerging. Pedestrians now have to train themselves to use the zebra crossing as the cross. This will help in reducing the traffic jam that is created when everyone is walking on the road. Bystanders also have a reason to smile as they can have a rest on the newly installed benches.
2.Improved safety.
Each time one had to walk along this street you had to be on the lookout for pickpockets and snatchers who would part with your money or gargets without a glitch. Currently, with the decongestion, the criminals who stole people’s phones and money have to find other locations else they risk being caught easily. The pedestrians can now relax and stroll with much comfort as they feel much secure with the upgraded one-way street.
3.Business visibility
Luthuli avenue is one of the busiest streets in the capital city and has many businesses lined up in that area. The traffic congestion and the bystanders often disappointed the business owners as they created obstructions to customers getting access to their businesses. The advertisements posters and billboard could hardly be noticed due to the many hawkers who lined up along this street. However, that is now a thing of the past since hawking is now restricted and with the installation of the benched the bystanders will have a place to have a rest will wait for someone.
4.Pollution control
The county government in conjunction with the United Nation installed pollution detector devices which are meant to monitor the level of pollution emitted in the area. Through the detectors, the county government will capitalize on ensuring that the working environment of the people along Luthuli street is safe for their health.
5 Business restructuring.
Change come along with both good and bad impact. Though there are a thousand reasons to smile for the drastic change, there are also those who feel oppressed by these changes. Eastleigh route matatus, for instance, had to relocate from their normal pick up point to pave way for decongestion.
