Strategy in Hospitality and Tourism Sector
During the covid-19 pandemic, many businesses are struggling to survive. Most companies that depended on mass populations to make huge profits are now facing the pandemic’s economic hardships. Hospitality and tourism industry is one of the sectors that are suffering severe effects of the virus. The industry depends on big masses of visitors from local and international. They have registered a decrease in the number of visitors entering their premises. During the pandemic, most employees have been laid off from the sector, thus increasing the rate of unemployment.
Some businesses have started to reopen slowly amid this pandemic. Hospitality and tourism sectors have issues of facilities on ensuring they uphold the health guidelines set by the health organization. Social distancing is a crucial requirement if any hotel is to operate. This will significantly reduce the number of clients who can access a premise at a time. The tourism sector depends highly on foreign visitors; however, the pandemic international flight has been canceled, reducing the number of tourists. Those who are still working during this period are making preparations and preserving the premises for future use after the pandemic. Since the sector depends on others like transport and communication, there is a need to have collaboration as they plan to reopen. Covid-19 has affected the worldwide economy, with hotels and tourism being the most affected due to their business nature. The regular seasons where the sector was booming have now been affected by the pandemic.
