MY SCHOOL EXPERIENCE
Introduction
School life marks the most prolonged period in our lives from childhood to adulthood. It is during our schooling periods that we experience life-changing moments. Some experiences can be excellent and successful, while others could be hectic and unsuccessful. The relevance of all these experiences is the life lessons we draw from them. Reflecting on my school life, I count most skills to be successful, but I also cannot forget some few worst experiences that never ended badly for me.
Successful experience
Back in high school during our first year, everyone had to choose an extra course to study. Choosing art and design is one thing I cannot regret ever in my life. I stepped into the art club with no idea how to draw a straight line on a free hand. My painting skill was so miserable, and I always came last in every contest. Some of the students even advised me to choose a different path instead. Mrs. Jean would always remind me to keep trying and never give up. She would give me take away tasks daily that I dedicated my night working. By the second month, I could make unique paintings, clothing designs, and even help other students with their assignments. During my free time, Mrs. Jean helped me make designs that are even more complex. She could choose me to represent my school in art exhibitions where I learned from experts.
By the end of my high school studies, I enrolled in the university, where I pursued design as my career. To date, I learned that success requires enough courage to face the negativity that might come your way. It calls for determination and positive support and mindset. Never give up on the road because of what other people think.
Unsuccessful experience
During my sophomore year in college, my ambitions were big, and I wanted to drive my car to school, but I was unsuccessful. I started an electronic business with the help of my cousin, the attendant. More competitors joined the market, and they were selling more trending goods than mine. The shops were digitally designed and even allowed self-selection services. They had an entertaining section with professionals who offered after-sale services to their customers. My attempts to curb the competition left me spending so much that I ended up using 87 percent of the savings. By the time I was stabilizing, my cousin was going back to school, and my course work became more involving. I had to sell it out, and that is how my dream of buying a car in college was unsuccessful.
If I had a second chance, I would have dedicated time to learn more about the trends in line with my business. I would even have hired competent personnel who is fully available. I would have also think of a different activity that I could handle while studying. I learned that success does not come easily.
How to be successful
Generally, to succeed in classwork, a student should do the following. Students should learn the art of proper time management to give quality time to learn something (Cdadmin, 2018). Be dedicated to studies and never panic, even if grades are not impressive. Always trust your capability without comparing it with other students (Cdadmin, 2018). To succeed as a student entrepreneur, one needs to set up a business that matches their skills. Understand well competitors in the market, prepare a business plan, and find the right personnel (Nigerian scholars, 2015). Find a venture that you can easily manage from the school environment.
