Information system

Lesson 11

Customer relationship management (CRM) is a concept that allows a business organization to manage as well as analyze its engagement with its previous, current and future clients. As the name suggests CRM focuses on the customers who are the main pillar of any business. Supplier relationship management, unlike CRM, focuses on those persons who provide input to the business organization and entails the strategic planning of interactions with such persons in order to create value. The difference between CRM and SRM is that the latter focuses on the suppliers while the earlier focuses on the clients. Both the suppliers and the clients are important parties to any organization as they are the reason as to why the entity exists. On the other hand, partner relationship management refers to the approach of improving the relationships between the business and the channel partners. It is important to note that partners are the main shareholders of a business who provide the required capital among other input. Last but not least, employee relationship management is the process of implementing the various methods that can be used to regulate the manner in which the staff members of the organization relate to each other, and this can be in form of setting various rules and regulations guiding the employees.

Lesson 12

Information plays a significant role in enterprise planning systems. One of the main roles of information is that it helps in providing the direction in which the planning should take. In other words, information is a critical input in the enterprise planning system. For instance, when the available information is about a problem that the business organization may be facing such as competition, the planning, in such a scenario will focus on highlighting the possible solutions. To this end, it can, therefore, be stated that information is critical in giving the flow that planning should take, and is thus an important input in the system.

Apart from that, information serves as the main output in the enterprise planning systems. In this case, it is noted that the output of planning can be a document that comprises of pieces of information. The latter can take the form of reports or proposals containing relevant information about the plan at hand. The role of information, in this case, is that of being the main output or deliverable in the enterprise planning system. Up to this point, it is, therefore, evident that information is both an input and an output in the enterprise planning systems, and these are the two main roles that it serves.
