Holistic Nursing
Question 1: Environmental Concern; climate change
- Local impact
- Climate change will disturb the altitudinal zones of montane societies that give alpha and beta landscape diversity.
- The climatic change will lead to the shifting of birds and other world animals, which are food sources to people. Thus there will be inadequate food to communities where this climate change occurs.
- National impact
- Climate change has led to drought in the western United States, and a positive impact on Alaska as the created mountains have snow that stores water for future use.
- Climate change has led to heat stress and an increase in waterborne diseases and poor air quality.
- c) Global impact
- i) Most of the Arid, such as South Africa and northern Brazil, face water scarcity challenges due to climate change.
- ii) Increased temperatures increase precipitation and rise in sea level, which leads to flooding of some areas (Arnell & Gosling, 2016).
Question 2: Challenges and Opportunities of Climate Change
- To the communities where birds and animals migrate to due to climate change, they are having opportunities for plenty of food, but to where the animals are coming from, they will face a challenge of hunger.
- Climate change has led to water scarcity in the arid areas, for they are becoming drier and to regions where mountains are accumulating with snow on top, water is stored for future use.
Question 3: Principles of Holistic Nursing
Nurses should give care to people affected by climate change by taking care of their physical and emotional conditions. Those lacking food and water should make sure these people have food and water to reduce their chances of getting stress and illnesses.
Question 4: Impact on the Future of Nursing
To ensure patients’ care, I would anticipate that nurses in the future visit their patients at their homes and interact with the whole society.
