I was involved in an impromptu meeting where I had to address students about the problems that the students were facing in the school. It was an address where I was not prepared for the briefing of this group of individuals. However, I was aware of the social issues facing the students like security, sanitation matters, and lack of proper channels of communicating with the heads of departments. As a result, I determined that it was a critical opportunity for me to air my grievances. In this meeting, several realizations were essential for my life.
Significance of realization
Because of a lack of adequate preparation, it is challenging to formulate things that you are going to say in a meeting. However, it is critically important to have a general overview of the factors that are addressed in the conference. The formulation of ideas or concepts during a situation like this is critical in enabling an individual to speak with confidence when you start addressing the group. There is a reduced level of confidence, and you are uncomfortable. However, as you continue talking, you gain confidence and become comfortable, which enables you to address the group with vigor, as long as you have a general understanding of the issues discussed in the meeting. In this regard, it is critically important to control the content you are presenting in a meeting. Besides, personal experience in life is critical when dealing with these situations, as they will be essential in providing you with an overview of the ideas you are presenting. Also, it is necessary to ensure that you have authority over the issues you are addressing. Conviction implies that you mean what you are saying. Because of this, the delivery of the information will be spontaneous and conversational. Due to the reason that you are not prepared with the notes or pages that you have to present to the group, it is critically important to speak directly to the audience, just as if you were addressing individuals in a general conversation.
A lack of details when presenting ideas can be challenging, as the audience wants to see you directly addressing the points. The audience can also ask questions, which implies that a general idea will help deal with the challenge; if you don’t understand the question or the issue raised, an individual has to ensure that he/she becomes honest. Finally, I realized that I indicated a level of leadership and creativity when engaging the audience on the issues affecting their lives.
Techniques used
Before starting the address, it is critical to outline the speech into three categories: introduction, body, and conclusion. The introductory part involves establishing the social issues I addressed; the body involves how they were affecting my life and the lives of colleagues; the conclusion entailed the strategies that can be useful in addressing them. It is a critical plan that enables the audience to be drawn to the speaker, as the presented ideas will fit into the speech. Inspiration speeches motivate the audience, as they remain motivated to adopt the needed changes, which will improve their lives. I learned that inspirational speech is essential for educating individuals and teaching people to ensure replacements, even though they face problems. It is not easy to motivate individuals, as it is not just a situation of telling stories but incorporating their questions to determine how they can be addressed.

Once I had addressed the audience, I thought of Martin Luther in the image below.
In the photo above, Martin Luther is addressing social justice to a multitude. As such, he had been incarcerated in Birmingham Jail. Upon his release, he addressed the public, implying that he had no adequate time to prepare his speech on the kind of information that he was going to disseminate the public. He did not put the notes down; however, the most critical aspect of the speech was that he had an excellent understanding of the issues facing African Americans in the United States. The theme includes systemic racism and discrimination of blacks and other races in the U.S. Also, he was fighting for the freedom of African Americans to be allowed to vote. These ideas are the reasons why he was put in Birmingham Jail. He did not take time to prepare so that he could point across to the crowd, eagerly waiting for his speech. He took the challenge as a standard-issue because he had a complete understanding of the social problems faced in the United States during that time. Because of this, he became confident and comfortable and effectively moved his audience with an emotional speech, which is still ingrained into the hearts of activists worldwide. Thus, this scenario indicates the importance of having a deep understanding of different aspects of one’s environment. It is not an easy challenge to address the audience when you haven’t prepared for the information that you are going to put forward. However, an understanding of the topic addresses this challenge, as you gain confidence and become comfortable when you are knowledgeable about the subject.
