Terrorism
The cold war was considered as the period of geopolitical strain between the United States and the Soviet Union and their allies in the Western and Eastern Bloc, after the end of World War 2. The rise in terrorism in the United States began in 1948 after Israel was declared independent. It was because the United States was Israel’s most close ally. It supported Israel with both weapons and funds. In 11th September 2001, the Al Qaeda made unexpected attacks on the USA under the directions of their leader Osama bin Laden. Four planes were hijacked for the attack, and two of them were flown directly into the World Trade Center, another one flown into the Pentagon and the last one into a Pennsylvania field. More than 3000 people were killed in the attacks. The hijackers were believed to be Islamic terrorists from several Arab nations, particularly Saudi Arabia. The attacks were furious because of America getting involved in the Persian Gulf War through the support given to Israel. After the attacks, the US tightened its security measures becoming stricter with people who travelled into the country.
The US became deeply divided politically and culturally after the 9/11. There were widespread discrimination acts and fear of the immigrants in the country. The political leaders were divided between those who supported severe measures to be taken on immigrants from Islam countries and those who wanted equality. Many Muslims and Arabs were arrested on suspicion of links with terrorism which lead to countrywide protests. The United States, in partnership with Britain, began bombing Afghanistan to fight the Al Qaeda and stop terrorism. The war against Al Qaeda was one of the campaign policies for Mr George Bush. He faced some opposition from other citizens that were against the war because of humanitarian reasons. The war was costly to the country because it was still recovering from a recession. A part of the country opposed the war because it cost an economical dent to the country.

I agree with you that terrorism was caused because of the US involvement and close alliance with Israeli troops. It is because they provided military support by providing them with powerful and most advanced weapons. The US also provided funds for Israeli, and this made the neighbouring Islamic nations furious. You also did a good job of mentioning the 9/11 attack, which was one of the worst terrorist attacks in the country. I believe this was a message from Al Qaeda for the US to stop its support for Israel. You are right that the internet was widely accessible after 9/11 with people spreading conspiracy theories. You should have mentioned the country became divided because some supported these theories while others opposed them.

I am of a similar opinion that the US support for Israel was the major cause of a series of terrorist attacks in the US, particularly the 9/11. The Al Qaeda attacked because they wanted to stop the spreading of Western operations in Islamic states. I also agree with you that the attack of Afghanistan by US soldiers to fight terrorism was costly to the country and more than 3000 solders killed by 2006. I think you should have mentioned the high death rate of soldiers in Afganistan and the huge budget allocated for this war contributed to the divide in the US. It is because some people were opposed to the war while others supported it.
