Big Bash League
The Big Bash League (BBL) is like the Indian Premier League (IPL), an Australian T20 cricket league inaugurated in 2011 by the Australian cricket board. Eight city-based franchises teams participate in the competition. The Big Bash League replaced the old Australian cricket tournament KFC T20Big Bash. It is the second most profitable league after IPL. The format of the tournament is dual round-robin and Knockout finals. The Big Bash League matches are organized in Australia during their summer in December, January, and February. The eight teams which participate in the league are Adelaide Strikers, Sydney Sixers, Melbourne Renegades, Brisbane Heat, Sydney Thunder, Perth Scorchers, Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes. Out of these 8 teams in the league, 6 teams have won the title at least once, but the 2 teams which never won BBL title till now are Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes. Chris Lynn is the most successful batsman, while Ben Laughlin is the most successful bowler in the league. Lynn scored most runs (2332) in the league, and Ben Laughlin took most wickets (110).
BBL History
BBL 2011
The first season of BBL was a huge success for Australian cricket. In BBL 2011, the final was played against Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers at Perth. Sydney Sixers won the game by 7 wickets and won the first BBL title. Sydney Sixers became the first champions of the league.
BBL 2012
After the first BBL season, Big Bash became so popular not just in Australia but all across the world. The final of BBL 2012 was played between Brisbane Heat and Perth Scorchers at Perth. It was the 2nd BBL final for Perth Scorchers. Brisbane won the game by 34 runs and won their 1st BBL title.
BBL 2013
After accepting defeat in 2 consecutive BBL Final match, Perth Scorchers finally won the title in the 3rd season of BBL. Perth Scorchers won the final by 39 runs against Hobart Hurricanes.
BBL 2014
The defending champs of BBL 2014 became the winning champions of BBL 2014. Perth Scorchers won their 2nd BBL title by defeating Sydney Sixers in the final. Scorchers won the game by 4 wickets.
BBL 2015
Sydney Thunder won the 2015 BBL title by defeating Melbourne Stars. It was the 1st title of Sydney Thunder, and Sydney Thunder was the 4th team who won the BBL title.
BBL 2016
Perth Scorchers won their 3rd title in BBL 2016. Perth Scorchers won the title by 9 wickets against Sydney Sixers.
BBL 2017
Adelaide Strikers won the BBL 2017 title by defeating Hobart Hurricanes and became the 5th team to win the BBL title. Adelaide won the game by 25 runs. It was for the 2nd time that Hobart Hurricanes could not win the final match of BBL.
BBL 2018
Melbourne Renegades won the BBL 2018 season. Melbourne Renegade defeated Melbourne Stars by 13 runs and became the 6th team to win the BBL title. It was 2nd time that Melbourne Stars failed to win the BBL final.
BBL 2019
Sydney Sixers won the BBL 2019 season. Sydney Sixers won the game by 19 runs against Melbourne Stars in the final of BBL. It was the 2nd BBL title for Sydney Sixers. They are the current champions of BBL.
