What is the historically significant about monotheism, and how did the Hebrews come to worship a single god?
Monotheism dates back around 1350BC unlike the polytheism, monotheism was a strong believe where people should have only one god to worship. The history of monotheism played a critical role in changing culture and adapting the belief that was used by different believers to represent their faith all over the world.
For example, the first monotheistic faith can be traced to the Aten in Egypt where he was declared to be the only god by the pharaoh Akhenaten. He went to be the significant figure of any other divine god, described as the Aten the sun of god. The Persian religion also had the same characteristics with their belief on Ahura Mazda. Though from the keen observation some of the monotheism beliefs originated from the polytheist, for example, the Hinduism but the nature of monotheism was significant in erasing the old gods. Today there exist the monotheistic religion having a contemporary wide range of faith attracting different beliefs but they share some common beliefs.
Before the Hebrews did not get understanding of one divine God. Although they exercised some form of monotheism they believed in prophets who they felt they could directly converse with. The Hebrews come to worship single God after the spread of the bible with the detailed interpretation and the fall of Babylonians
