Development is a prominent feature of human life. The notion of Human development refers to the mechanism of change, growth, and stay of the individuals at the same time, in a society. This essay succinctly reflects on the understanding of the human development theories that are relevant to the problems and challenges of an organization.
The most prominent human development theories that I have understood include Freud’s Psychosexual Development Theory, Erikson’s Psychosocial Development Theory, Bandura’s Social Learning Theory, Sociocultural Theory, Piaget’s Cognitive Development Theory, and Maslow Hierarchy of Needs Theory. I have understood that some theories have the tendency to focus on behavior, some focus on social, conditional, cognitive, and heredity aspects, and others focus on drives or needs of human beings. The theories that are relevant to organizational context whether personal or career-related organization include the Psychosocial Development Theory, Sociocultural theory, Social Learning Theory by Bandura, Systems theory, and Maslow Hierarchy of Needs Theory. The idea behind Psychosocial theory is the social and biological forces that influence individual behavior along with outcomes in each stage. Social Learning theory also considers the influence of inborn characteristics of humans and the social influences on personalities. On the other hand, Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs studies the stages of individual needs linked with social factors. It is also one of the significant theories relevant to the organization and its problems and challenges in the modern era. Similarly, Systems theory also emphasizes working on needs, expectations, rewards, and individual attributes in a complex system in which the problem is resolved with the help of family or organizational members. Overall, the human development theories are significant in developing an understanding that whether it is the matter of personal traits of individual organization of things, matters, or working in an organization, humans are always interacting with the society in the form of family, friends, or peers, and professional staff members in the organizations (OPDG 2020; Socialwork.Simmons.Edu; Us.Sagepub.Com 2020).
The organizational challenges and problems could be eliminated by focusing on human needs, expectations, and then offering rewards in the organization to foster the collective efforts to resolve issues. Some adolescents or individuals tend to deviate from the educational or organizational goals but rewards and fulfilling their needs could keep them motivated to strive to collectively resolve organizational problems.
