Heart disease
INTRODUCTION
Heart disease is a common disease among black Americans but they can’t access medical services. This is because of the racial and social injustice that has dominated the USA. Control and correct treatment of hypertension leading cause of the heart disease among blacks is less compared to the white people hence this has led to ethnic disparities in social factors. African American are at a high risk of contracting the illness other than racial/ethnic groups. They are considered as the most disadvantaged demographics in America.
Health care challenges among black Americans still exist and they have not been solved. Health disparities happen because of lack of expansion and health care provider shortages makes it hard to solve America health care needs properly. Therefore, by creating new measures that will address health disparities among black Americans.
Methodology
This research I’m going to use both qualitative and quantitative research methodology. First, the questionnaires will be used to collect data from African American who they feel about the disease. They will contain questions such as “do you believe blacks are at high risk getting the disease “and some more open questions such as “what recommendations can be implemented to ensure no inequality in the health institution
The other method to use is the use of interviews and focus groups. Because of the limited time, I will formulate focus groups of different ages, sex and ranks and this will help to gather unbiased opinion. I Will use a group of 20 people some of whom could have been diagnosed with a heart attack
SAMPLE SIZE
Participants who I selected to participate in the study were black Americans aged between 19 -60 years. Participants were contacted through emails or agencies of African communities. Flyers were also distributed in the community before the survey. We contacted 410 members and they were all willing to participate. The screening process was sorted by age, gender, location and time and was divided by interviewing 6 participants by day. Also before the day of the interview, we contacted the participants through email and phone numbers.
HYPOTHESIS
The rate of heart attack patients in America is steeply rising even though it can be reduced and moderated. Black Americans have been greatly affected because of racism. This hypothesis will test the rate of heart attack of blacks over the past five years. This hypothesis also aims that some patients die because of sheer negligence because they don’t adhere to simple routine procedures. Also, the hypothesis will test the impact felt by the community when one member dies of the disease. It will also test proposed methods of controlling the disease and measures to reduce hear attack disease.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, the CDC prominent factors that lead to cardiovascular disease include diabetes smoking and blood pressure. Therefore, black Americans are advised to understand the risks and take simple guidelines to address them. Although they have limited access to education and health insurance cover they are at a lower risk of getting the disease.
Measures to reduce and prevent heart disease include physical activity, a good diet, regular checkups and stress management. By adjusting and changing to this health lifestyle it will help to prevent heart disease. Also, community programs such as Million Hearts® have been created to educate people on health behaviours to prevent heart attacks. Million Hearts® initiative aims to prevent one million heart attacks. It was launched by HHS to bring together communities nonprofit organizations federal organization and health systems to prevent heart disease and stroke. The initiative has helped to improve to access quality health care and quality care through ABCs.
