Islam describes management organizations and has a useful purpose in this world and the hereafter. The Islamic management paradigm base on trust, responsibility, skills, discipline, commitment, cooperation, flexibility and fairness. As exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during the early years of Islam. In the history of the country philosophy, an Islamic state established in Medina by the Holy Prophet (PBUH) a unique example of organization. Execution of the right division of labour like administrative, planning and executive activities, integration of competencies and that ensure sufficient protection in every field, a strong Medina parliament organizes through the Labor Division process.
Islam is considered the middle road where it does not fully accept the idea of holacracy, nor does it oppose it. We see the teams made up of a group of purpose-driven people working together extraordinarily, trusting each other, complementing each other’s strengths, and compensating for each other’s weaknesses.
A team embraces collective superordinate goals that are larger than any of the individual goals and consistently produce superior outcomes and results. In the Islamic context, a group consists of at least three people coming together for a common altruistic intention or suggesting that the Prophet is used to say “when travelling on a journey, even if only three of you are the leader. Another example, when the Companions deliberated on the election of Muslim leaders after the Prophet’s death.
In that condition, each of those who initially insisted on appointing a leader finally realized that the position only gives to those who were competent (Al-Kāmil fī al-Tārikh, 2/191). Stand Abu Bakr approaching Umar bin Khattab while saying, “Spread your arms! We will pledge allegiance to you! “Al-Faruq replied humbly: ‘You are superior to me!, “You are superior to me!” As-Siddiq also replied very convincingly, “You are stronger than me.” Finally, this father of Hafshah chimed in, “My strength (I offer) for you together with your virtues.” (al-Muntadham, 4/67)
Abu Ubaidah chimed in, “O Abu Bakr! There is no one after the Prophet, who is superior to you. You were the one who accompanied the Messenger of Allah in the cave of Hira and replaced him as the Imam of Salat (when he was sick). Then, you are the one who is most fit to carry out this business. “(Dr. Raghib As-Sirjani, Istikhlāf Abi Bakar As-Siddiq). Umar was immediately controlling the public. A few questions were asked to the friends, “Don’t you all know that the Messenger of Allah made Abu Bakr as your prayer leader?” “Yes.” They answered in unison.” Who among you thinks you are above that person specifically chosen by Allah’s Messenger?” “No one. We take refuge in Allah from that action. “(Narrated by Nasa’i, Judge). Not waiting for a long time, Umar quickly shook Abu Bakr’s hand and immediately took his allegiance and was followed by another friend. That was the process of electing the first leader after the death of Rasulullah SAW. Leaders are chosen based on deliberation.
Thus, holacracy is a new style of running an organization or company by eliminating the power possessed by managers and implementing a working system without the dominance of a particular party’s control, and prioritizing self-management. In the Quran surah, Al Hujurat verse 13 says:
يأيها ٱلناس إنا خلقنكم من ذكر وأنثى وجعلنكم شعوبا وقبآئل لتعارفوا إن أكرمكم عند ٱلله أتقىكم إن ٱلله عليم خبير
“O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the noblest of you in the sight of God is the most righteous of you. Indeed, God is Knowing and Acquainted.”
Interpreted that in Tafsir Al-Mukhtashar/Markaz Tafsir Riyadh, under the supervision of Shaykh Dr Shalih bin Abdullah bin Humaid (Imam of the Grand Mosque), O people, indeed we created you from one father, namely Adam and one mother, Hawwa. So do not feel more critical among some of you over others from the side of the people. We have made your nationals and tribes through a process of descent, so some of you know the others. Surely the noblest of you in the sight of Allah is the most devoted to Allah. Verily Allah is All-Knowing of those who fear Allah and are conscientious towards them.
Indeed, God’s eyes are the same; the condition only sees from one’s devotion. Living side by side and making decisions by deliberation without seeing positions are often modelled in the Prophet’s time.
