Only about 40% of Americans are college graduates
Only about 40% of Americans are college graduates, this low rate of college graduation is as a result of a variety of factors, with different Racial groups having different challenges. Native Americans have the lowest rate of college graduation and the main factor promoting this is because many of their families are living in poverty. Therefore the parents’ mentality is geared towards employment rather than education since the families need to be sustained by the provision of basic needs. Hence most of them drop out at early learning stages to hustle for their families.
Most societies through prehistory have also believed in the hierarchy among members this is why communities are subdivided into groups such as; rich & poor, leaders and followers, and other various classifications. Such classification within a society also leads to a mentality that a certain type of race should not be educated beyond a certain level. This is why we observe that majority of whites occupy the doctorates position with slightly more than 70%, the next race that follows is Asian Americans with 11%.
Economical strains amongst the races that are in the reserve also play a major role in low rates of college graduations in the US. Most schools that are located in the reserve don’t have most academic stationaries and resources that are being offered in other regions. Some reserve regions also have schools located miles away from where people live hence a sense of demoralization to the student while traveling such miles to go to school, this eventually leads to most of them dropping out.
