- Introduction
- Attention Getting Device – How would you feel seeing someone close to you die? Countries have been on lockdown because of the highly infectious Covid-19. The main method of controlling the spread of the virus is through washing hands with water and soap and keeping social distance. Research: Experts have pointed to poor hand hygiene and close contact as the main ways through which the virus spreads from person to person.
- Preview – Washing of hands is a basic practice but people tend to overlook it. People always interact and handshakes are common. Also, doors are main spreading points since everyone touches them while opening. It is therefore important to wash your hands to avoid contracting the virus from services and also avoid spreading it.

- Need for addressing the problem
- Poor hand hygiene contributes to the spread of most diseases. Diseases such as flu spread through contact and hands come into contact with many surfaces.
- Washing of hands with soap removes germs and viruses thus reducing the risk of infection.
- A research done by American Society of Microbiology showed that more than five percent of adults do not wash their hands.
- The survey showed that women wash their hands with soap more than men hence the higher cases of flu and colds among men than women.
- Most people believed that they trusted using hand sanitizers and did not see the need to wash their hands when they can access a hand sanitizer. However, hand sanitizers might kill the skin cells leaving the skin more vulnerable.
- Action
- Keep your hands clean by washing them regularly with soap and plenty of water. Clean hands are essential in leading a healthy life.
- Use hand sanitizers as the second option where water and soap are not available. It is better to do something than to do nothing.
III. Conclusion
- Summary – Keeping your hands clean protects you and the people around you from diseases. Most diseases can only be transmitted through contact and hands hold a lot of services and might easily be a source of contamination.
- Concluding Device – Be a protector and prevent the spread of diseases. View yourself as a potential source of death and maintain hygiene.
