CROWDFUNDING

Socrates and Plato are known philosophers, whose philosophies and ideologies are used to date. They existed in different eras but made their name before their deaths. Socrates was an ancient Greek philosopher and had most of his philosophies and teachings recorded and written after his death by writers. His students included Xenophon and Plato. In contrast, Plato was also a Greek philosopher and the father of the Platonic school of thought. He is a significant figure in the western philosophy and Greek history. He is attributed to have founded western political philosophy and western spirituality. Socrates and Plato are highly followed and respected and mentioned in the little conversations of life. Both had quite different thoughts which include.

Socrates explained that all men must strive to discover the truth therein lies virtue and happiness. In contrast, Plato highlighted that truth is only for the selected few, that is, the intellectual class. Plato stated that every individual must know their lower place and accept judgment of the intellectual class.

Socrates valued freedom, and he fought the freedom of people from their self-deceit and false beliefs. He ensured he spoke precise and concisely about it, and valued freedom. On the other hand, Plato was not keen on freedom of people, and he proposed and sought a restrictive society where a group of individuals is held in high esteem.

Socrates believed in justice and stated that everything has a role to play, and must perform it well enough. He believed that everything is characterized by a virtue that has a direct relationship with the performance of its function. In contrast, Plato stated that injustice cannot be better than justice, he explained that each function is dependent on the society an individual finds themselves in. He further explained that a person’s and his ability to perform it out effectively is highly dependent on the community one lives.

In conclusion, Socrates had a substantial impact on Plato, although their philosophies were different, showing they were different men with different perspectives. Plato had an impact on the perception we have on Socrates, as one of his students.
