One of the major objectives of artificial intelligence is to generate machines such as robots that can perform tasks that are currently conducted by people. The rate of unemployment tends to rise when machines are used to eliminate people in a working environment (Ramesh, Delen, & Turban, 2011). The government has to find ways to ensure its people still have some of gaining income even if they are not working. One such system is universal basic income (UBI) where individuals receive some amount of money from the government on regular basis. UBI act as a source of income especially to people who have lost their jobs due technological advancements. Universal basic income ensures that everyone lives above poverty line thus it is able eliminate poverty. UBI has the potential of expanding the economic growth of people by making rich individuals richer and poor to be rich (Lowry, 2017). Universal basic income grants employees the bargaining in what they earn because it discourages low income wages. Even though UBI is subjected in improving people’s welfare, its implementation has resulted in some negative impacts to the society. People develop a habit of being lazy because they know they will still get some income even they don’t work. UBI is expensive to implement because it involves paying everyone in the society even those who are not contributing anything to the economy.

In order to implement universal basic income, the government should obtain all the personal details about an individual such as age, gender, and ethnicity to determine how much they will be earning.

Artificial Intelligence not only focuses on machine but it also enables invention of software that can be used to make work easier for people by eliminating manual, and traditional means of doing things. One such application is the student information system (SIS), which provides a working environment where students, teachers and parents can exchange information. SIS facilitates close monitoring of students in terms of their behavior and performance. Student information system can guide students throughout the process of enrolment while at the same time availing all the information regarding the school regularly. SIS can be used to store information and data about students, and it eliminates human error when used to analyze students’ performance progress (Gürkut, 2017). Some of the drawbacks associated with SIS are; the system can be hacked leading stealing or manipulation of stored data, and there is less interaction between students and their lecturers.

SIS can be implemented by installing common SIS software by all members of educational institutions that suitably fits the requirements of the institution.
