Reflection of a Case Study
The study of The York Management School (TYMS) integration of Google and VLE collaborative tools
The case study analyzes the importance of integration of google and VLE collaborative tools to the education sector. It serves as an important aspect as it benefits both students and teachers in delegating their roles. Students can participate in group discussions from whichever location they are in a professional manner, unlike through WhatsApp or Facebook. Moreover, they get to see their results right after taking a test alongside a rubric that indicates where they have gone wrong to correct. On the other hand, tutors get to access students to work easily and in the open to give prompt feedback form students. They can see what the other tutors have responded to students concerning particular feedback so they can base theirs on it.
Achieving the integration of Google and VLE collaboration incorporates subject experts, who, in this case, are the E-learning development team. Subject experts work hand in hand with Dr. Gillet to achieve specific functions and features necessary to achieve the desired outcome. They advise the project manager on the technical strategy to adopt (Engeland, 2012). They analyze and test the best tools to achieve the proper integration of tools to yield the expected results from the systems (Waxer, 2012). In this case, they work collaboratively with the students to ensure they can perform online discussions and view their tutors’ feedback. It is depicted by the large number of students who appreciate the new form of online discussion through the survey carried out in the case study. The role played by the subject experts in the case study stands out as it results in the success of the project.
