Discussion Board Response 1; Contributions to American policing made by the English and French.
INTRODUCTION
Around 1800 there was massive urbanization in America. This development of urban centers was accompanied by a rapid rise in crime-related cases like violence robbery and gambling. This rise in the crime rates called for the policing of America. The police were organized alongside the military groups. Police were responsible for the direct involvement and enforcement of the law. The main aim was to create law and order.
Contributions of policing on America
Adoption of legal practices by the American citizens.
There is a recognizable decrease in crime rate due to the introduction of policing in America. The police acted as the watchdogs of the authority this made the criminal groups such as the problematic gangs that used to sell drugs in the streets of Los Angeles. The drug peddlers reacted due to the fear of being prosecuted by the law enforced by the police.
Development of Public Respect of the law.
With the introduction of policing in America, the members of the public were educated about the law and various importance of respecting and upholding the constitution. Citizens, therefore, started behaving and acting legitimately by doing things according to the law. This recorded a drop in illegal activities done by the members of the public.
Reduction of the slave trade
A night watchdog was formed as a department of the police. This group was responsible for time to time inspection of the security around the settlers’ environment. This ensured that they inspect the farms and industries to arrest and prosecute the slave traders. This led to a decline in slavery and the slave trade.
Effects of policing before and after world war.
Reform movement
Due to the rise in criminal cases in the nation, the police system had to be reorganized. The introduction of policing led to many youths being employed as police officers. This created room for the reorganization. This led to changed behavior since the police had to be trained to act professionally.
Departmentalization of the police system.
Reform movement led to the call for departments. The various departments were formed. Some of the police departments include the New York police department, Chicago police department, and the sheriff.
Effects on the current state of American policing and the citizens they serve.
- Changed perception of policing
The positive effects of the policing system in America contributed to a changed perception of the policing by the youths. Youths used to see police as tools of discrimination and racism, but due to various achievements of the system this perception has changed and the youths now recognize the police as tools of peace.
- Reduction in crime cases and fears.
People used to live in fears due to lack of law and order in the society, but with the policing system in place, the current system is recording a reduced number of crime-related cases.
Conclusion
Policing has gone several evolutions due to the demands of urbanization, technology improvement, and industrialization. His evolution has caused and built a procedural justice system that has ensured the citizens are living peacefully among themselves.

Reduction in corruption
With the rise of new urban and more industry leaders who were awarded jobs based on biased criteria, this was curbed by the police who did investigations and prosecuted the guilty offenders. Therefore, this act reduced in America.
