Article 1

The study is quantitative; this is because the study objectives were to evaluate the relationship between the variables which are evidence-based and teaching practices. The study also used a cross-sectional study design which is an example of quantitative research design. Questionnaires were used for data collection while data analysis was conducted through descriptive analysis (Shafiei et al., 2014). The analysis process allowed for a measure of the distribution of the data set, this approach is only possible under qualitative research.

Where does your study fall in the hierarchy?

The study falls under level two in the hierarchy of nursing research, this is because the article is based on a knowledge base and not just a mere idea. The article is based on knowledge from the field of medicine. The study findings are universally acceptable since they are based on a universally acceptable phenomenon (Geri Lobiondo-Wood and Judith Haber 2014). The evidence-based approach in nursing is the use of most recent knowledge on the field of medicine to undertake nursing practices. The article is based on using previously tested and proven approaches in training of future medical personnel.

The study approach used in this study is qualitative, the researcher wants to consider in-depth the behavior of nurses in the intensive care unit. To fully explore the concept qualitative data collection methods were used, these methods are; ethnographic observation and the use of structured interviews (Slatore et al., 2012). The study is based on a natural premise and uses non- numeric data.

Where does your study fall in the hierarchy?

The study falls in the three of the hierarchy; this is because the researcher uses information from experts, in this case, the nurses and therefore improves its reliability. However, evidence of the collected data is hard to validate.
