Pike Island Pool Analysis

Introduction:

The subject matter in this study is the evaluation of biodata for 15 locations to evaluate whether they meet the expected aquatic life. The 15 random locations are selected for each of the 3 to 4 navigational pools situated along the Ohio River each year. The aquatic life evaluation of the pools is evaluated based on different physical water parameters, the biotic life of these locations, and the general in-stream habitat.  The preliminary evaluation is also conducted through the evaluation of the general aquatic life living in the respective locations. The evaluations which will be performed on the sites are also carried out based on biotic index integrity scores together with the micro invertebrate index for all the respective 15 sites.

In 2002 and 2012, gizzard recorded the highest population, but since then, there has been a decrease in the population. The obtained coefficient between 2007 and 2012 for Sorensen’s Coefficient (CC) also stood at 0.8. The experimental results show that there was a decrease in the number of fish by 2000 between the years 2007 and 2012. These figures are accurately displayed in figures 3 and 4 used in the previous descriptions. The aquatic life that was not counted for in 2012 in Park Island includes Spottail Shiner, Redear Sunfish, Black Buffalo, River Club, River Darter, Saugeye, Skipjack Herring. All these aquatic species were accounted for in the year 2007. From the results, it was also noted that certain aquatic species that were not accounted for in the year 2007, were now accounted for in year 2012. From the obtained results, there exists a high level of similarities between the years 2007 and 2012 communities that existed in the Park Island. Concerning the evaluation of the fish population and other specifies, it was very evident that the population of fish in the year 2012 decreased to a larger extent, and this could be attributed to several factors. The main factors which led to the experimental findings were the increase in temperature and the increased variation of salinity that affected most of the biotic lives sand. These are the main factors that influenced the fish population in the aquatic lives.

Discussions.

From the survey results, the most critical data that was used in evaluating the aquatic viability of the pools which were chosen for the research study. Comparing the fish populations between the years 2007 and 2012, it was quite clear that the findings show a decrease in the fish population. An analysis of the research findings shows that the reduction in the population could be attributed to certain factors ranging from increased salinity and a decrease in the amount of oxygen dissolved in the aquatic pool chosen for the research study. These factors are very critical in influencing the aquatic life existing in the pools chosen for the research study. Supporting information for the findings was obtained through the drawing of comparisons between the data relating to the PH values, the recorded temperature, and the general conductivities. Fish and other aquatic life are very sensitive to these fish, and another aquatic life is very sensitive to these environmental variations, and there general aquatic survival is very dependent on the proportions of the aquatic conditions. XXX also agrees that the general aquatic life is very subjective to the variations in the water properties and other environmental factors such as temperature.
