Title of the speech Goodness in giving

General goal of the Speech To show that it is good to give

Specific goal of the speech  To show that giving does not make one poor but enhances the ability of a person to interact and connect with others and propagates the giver’s public and social image.

1.      Attention

Attention getter: The attention grabber of this speech will be a question with reference to the current events. I chose a question because the question provides individuals with an item that enhances their concentration ability.

Did you know that the current top twenty givers of the world are also the top twenty billionaires?

Listener Relevance: Listener relevance topics are used in the introduction of a speech to show a relation of the content of the address to the life experience of the listeners (Lumen Learning, 2020). For instance, if the above speech was given to a group of students’ the relevance will be based on their experience and should be different from other groups.

Another short example of the importance is when helping others while on campus. It enables you to acquire friends easily and faster while also securing yourself need when the time comes. We have to realize that while we are here in schools, and some of us come from well off families, there is a time when each of us is in need and requires help,  not just money but even friendship and time.

Speaker Credibility: No one wants to listen to someone who has little knowledge of the topic they are discussing. A speaker must show that he or she has experience in the subject of contention and that she is trustworthy to the audience. Simple words may enhance the speaker’s credibility (Lumen Learning, 2020). Examples of sentences in the speech that provide listener credibility will include the following

During my research, I realized that giving does not necessarily mean losing.

In my experience as a giver, I have gained more friends, more wealth, and more time than if I was not a giver. Therefore, giving is fulfilling.

Thesis statement: The thesis statement identifies the problem question and provides a solution to the thesis statement that forms the basis of the discussion.

Most people fear giving in the belief that they lose more, which is not the case since the benefits that one acquires from being a giver outweigh the losses.

2.      Need:

Paragraph 1: This paragraph will focus on the problems that provide the need for this speech. Identify two or three issues.

Two major concerns show the increasing need for giving. Between the years 2000 and 2012 before the increase in the number of dollar billionaires, individuals from medium and high economic classifications traversed the globe visiting children and animal orphanages, refugee camps, and relief centers to offer donations has decreased drastically (Molz, 2017). The decrease in the number of philanthropic organizations across the globe and secondly the reduction of youths’ social ability. Over the last five years, more than ten percent of charitable organizations such as community-based organizations and foundations have closed their operation due to a lack of funds and resources. While individual contributions by top billionaires have increased drastically, these contributions do not reach the required organization. Most of the medium to low operations organizations depend on the support of the common man and not big philanthropies (R.Lloyd, 2018). Secondly, in the past, giving was used as a form of socialization. However, due to the reduction in giving, the current generation is highly unsociable. Most live playing computer games and driving to family fishing and do not understand the need and importance of connecting with those in need.

3.      Solution:
Paragraph two: This section will provide solutions and relating them to the identified problems. The solutions provided must be relevant to the audience. Considering the speech is given to a group of university students.

Some of the solutions to tackle the stated problems include promoting exchange programs among university students, promoting volunteer programs, and morality training in schools and other social groups.  Institutions should organize exchange programs between Australian universities and universities from developing regions such as Africa and some Asian countries since experience is the best teacher (The Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research, 2017). Therefore, by sharing in this poverty experience, the student will learn to give more and use giving as a form of socialization, leading to a return in philanthropic travels. Secondly, volunteering programs are those activities that participant donates a small amount of fee to an organization and visit a region in need to offer their services. These programs advanced philanthropic activities among students while providing critical work experience. Finally, institutions must train their students on the importance of giving. By assisting one person, an individual helps a whole community (Marsh & Suttie, 2019). For instance, paying school fees for one student provides hope for the future to their families.

4.      Visualization:
Paragraph 3: This paragraph will offer a picture that will show the consequences of not giving and giving to the future generation.

While poverty level shifts, lack of giving increases. In turn, various philanthropic organizations declare insolvency leading to increased unemployment. Future projections by pe research show that a reduction in giving will lead to a further increase in poverty, which translates to insecurity and other social norms (Molz, 2017). Giving is not only securing the person in suffering’s future but also your own. Students’ should understand that giving creates a society where all are important and all matter. It develops the self-esteem of those in need and provides hope or the future to the community of the individual.

5.      Action
This paragraph will function as the conclusion of the speech. It provides a call to action or recommendation. This section should target both the audience and any other individual who may listen to the recording. Some of the world’s greatest speeches, such as the call for freedom by Nelson Mandela, the Inauguration Speech of John F Kennedy, and I have A dream by Martin Luther King Jnr take their meaning from this section.

I believe that it is upon you to become both givers and takers. The society holds no particular recourse on how we can further our neighbors. Though it provides a solution to our action, this solution is known as kindness. Giving is a sign of affection. Giving is an appreciation for those who do not have. It is a show of gratitude in the face of challenge. Nobody is better than the other, thus giving makes us better.

This statement can be expanded to include major points from the speech and advance on these points, creating a recommendation to follow.
