The field of medical science is a dynamic field that gets new cases in line. Biological sciences collectively try to get the answers to the more modern cases that get to be reported. Various divisions of natural sciences examine these vital processes. The study entails research in all organisms, including microorganisms. The newest case of ailment that is virally caused is the Coronavirus. The virus is a famous animal and human pathogens that result in cases of pneumonia. Wuhan, a city in Hubei China, has been on headlines as the epicentre of this viral disease. In this essay, the knowledge garnered in biological science is going to be related to this real-life problem as highlighted in the CDC report on the coronavirus outbreak.

Basic Understanding of the Virus

Firstly, the disease spread at an alarming rate throughout China and sending fear in other countries. There have been sporadic cases that have been reportedly seen in various countries worldwide. It is in February of the year 2020 that the World Health Organization (WHO) through its mandate, designated this pandemic as COVID-19. Herein it will, therefore, be referred to as COVID-19. Epidemiologically, since its inception, the disease has spread through various parts of the globe. China alone has recorded over 70,000 cases. With the case count rising daily, CDC released its report to aid the masses in knowing better information on this COVID-19.

The transmission risk, as indicated in the report, still is incomplete. However, sources have it that the spread occurs mainly through the respiratory droplets. The range, therefore, is closely related to the case of Influenza. The airborne precautions, therefore, are highly recommended to be taken since the transmission has not been fully documented. There is person to person spread and also coming in contact with the already infected objects. The virus is seen to be spreading sustainably and easily (Patel et al., 2020).

Additionally, the disease presents with its various symptoms. Some of the symptoms may be mild but quickly advances to severely being sick and ultimately dying. The symptoms presented include one having fever, shortness of breath and coughing. The incubation period of this virus is short as it is less than two weeks. The result of this is that one who has contacted the disease will experience the signs and symptoms within a range between two and fourteen days (Redfield & Messonnier, 2020).

Besides, the report puts forward ways on the prevention of this disease. It states that currently, no recommended vaccine is put forward to prevent COVID-19. The only way at the moment is to avoid an individual from getting exposed to this deadly virus. CDC, therefore, puts mechanisms through which one can avoid being exposed to the virus. it is classified as respiratory disease, and much of the recommendations, therefore, are focused into the prevention of respiratory diseases. People should, therefore, avoid any contact with an identified patient or any quarantined individual suspected to be positive (Redfield & Messonnier, 2020). The eyes, mouth and nose are the organs rich with the respiratory fluids, and therefore, by all means, their contact should be avoided. Quarantine should apply to any suspected case and in any public space; people need to be educated on the use of a facemask. Health workers and any other people that handle the patients need to be fully equipped as prescribed by the CDC. In treatment, the medical science fraternity has not come up with any antiviral treatment people already infected are advised to receive supportive care that will help them relieve their symptoms. The attention is aimed at also preventing the malfunctioning of key organs.

Distinguish Between Cells and Viruses

A cell is the smallest functional and structural unit of any living organism. The metabolic functions of the organism are carried out by a cell. The cell has got other organelles that aid it in its functions. On the hand, a virus is a parasite that can cause disease. The virus has a mechanism, through which it replicates itself through making copies of its replica; the virus is made of a protein coat and a nucleic acid. The difference is that the virus is much smaller and need a host that is living to reproduce. The two are microscopic and cannot be observed by a naked eye.

Discuss the Implication of Coronavirus Outbreak

The outbreak of this disease has got various implications on a global scale. It has weighed the market of Asia highly, and the negative effect is seen in the Asian countries. In China, for instance, there is reduced financial exchange, and the travel ban implies a lot of loss in its market. The tourism industry is also affected due to the restrictions, and this is also causing an impact in scientific exchange (Yang, 2020). Lastly, cruise travel and flights have been banned hence causing a lot of losses to individuals and countries.

In conclusion, Coronavirus is another present-day topic in the field of biological sciences. Through the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there is an analysis of what this disease means. Also, scientific knowledge gets a real-life application in demonstrating the basic understanding of this virus. Finally, the implication gets a discussion herein.
