Literature review offers information on how one plans to investigate a research problem. When a literature review is well planned, it links the plans of the researcher to suggestions of the research, therefore assist in planning the whole project. Also, since literature reviews comprise of research and methodologies employed by the research, the information is crucial when designing a project since it assists the researcher to employ relevant methodologies suitable for such a project. Literature review guides the reader on the current state of the research field which is useful in the identification of the existing gap. Literature review allows one to understand the progression of critical thinking when responding to a research problem, thus allowing one to arrange ideas when synthesizing a research problem. Identification of the gap in the literature review informs what the project should include and how it should be arranged, hence a good project planner.

b.) From the weeks reading, I plan to increase the use of literature review in planning my project. Also, I will train nurses in various ways literature can be used to identify the gap within a study. The use of research in practice is crucial, and the identification of the gap existing in a study allows the nurses to decide on the credibility of the study before use. Since evidence-based practice is a new program in hospitals, training nurses on ways to identify a gap in research will be an appropriate intervention, and it will translate to a successful implementation. The use of the literature review can be used in the identification of sources that are helpful in research as well as in nursing practice. Therefore, I will train nurses on how literature review can be used as a background for analysis of research literature when used in practice.
