Journal 2 Leadership Timeline
Leadership development occurs where experiences are used to expand performance capability of person leadership roles. Leadership development is a journey that is not achieved at a single point. The events that have contributed to my leadership development include my previous company where I was employed. I was working at Starbuck as a branch manager back in the year 2015, and the position was so challenging. This is because I had to ensure that all employees were cooperative and reporting daily to main company contributed to my leadership skills dealing with all types of employees helped in developing my leadership skills.
Another event that contributed to leadership development is my first visit to the United States where I attended a speech by president Barrack Obama on leadership in the year 2016. During his speech, Obama talked to young youths on how he started developing his leadership skills back at the age of 25 which inspired me and made me believe in myself. This also contributed to developing my leadership skills.
After the completion of my undergraduate course, I was employed by my uncle in his company located in China as a human resource manager back in 2016. During this period, I was able to interact with different employees and other senior people who guided me on how I should handle differences within the organization as a leader. This experience gave me the basis of a good leader which contributed to developing my leadership skills.
Currently, I am running my business which is located in China, and it is challenging being the leader while still in school. It is becoming a challenge to manage all the activities of a leader because most of my time is spent researching the school work. Despite the two roles, I can combine the two and ensure that the business is running smoothly while also attending my classroom sessions though it is challenging.
In future, I will advance my education in business management at Harvard University where I will learn different ways to manage a business. Through this, I will develop relationship skills which will assist in relating to my employees while in the business. The studies will help me develop the best leadership which will help me grow in my leadership career. I will include the career in human resource management which will increase my understanding of a leader. Through this, I will develop and be a good leader in the future. My goal is to be a responsible leader who will handle different activities at a ago and handle them efficiently.
I plan to expand my business global where it will have the biggest shares in the United States. The business will deal with marketing off other companies’ product which is why I have started a small marketing agency in the China. This company will enhance my leadership skills since I will have to learn different cultures in the countries I will locate my company. Managing a company that has branches in other countries is my future goal which is the reason I will pursue a course of business management so that I can have an easy time when managing my company. This will also contribute to developing my leadership skills as I will have to manage employees from all the countries where my company will be based.
