Villa Rotonda

Villa Rotonda is a renaissance that was designed by Andrea Palladio just outside Vicenza in northern Italy. Palladio was interested in engaging viewers when he created the architecture. Palladio used different features when constructing the Villa which made it more unique than the Villas that were already in the town. La Rotonda displays four of the striking facades which make it more visible and unique to viewers. The villa is designed to allow the viewers find it attractive and it seems like a serene despite the four facades that make it. Villa Rotonda is mostly known as Capra which is the name that was given because of the Capra brothers who were involved in the construction. The building was made in a way that it inspired many people within the country.

La Rotonda was built on a hilltop outside Vicenza city so that it could attract many viewers. It was not created to accommodate working farm, but it was designed in a way that it could act as an attraction site. Villa Rotonda was designed for an utterly symmetrical building which had a square plan to accommodate the four facades that were installed. The architecture of the Villa has projecting portico that makes it more visible over the other villas in the country. The villa has a central circular doomed hall that is centrally placed, and the architecture has steps that lead to the hall. The design of the rooms that were rotated 45 degrees each from the cardinal point of a compass to facilitate light getting into the rooms. The porticos above the villa were to be used as a viewing point for other locations of the country. This is why it was built on the hilltop and was symmetrical to facilitate viewing.

The Villa Rotonda became the most recognized building in Italy s it was built in ancient Roman classical model and had an innovative design that had Impact on the generation during that period as well as future generation. The Villa is located between the loveliest hills that are in the country which was a way to attract more viewers who were interested in the hills. The villa also considered viewers from all sides where all angles are favorable when viewing the villa. La Rotonda was created in a way that agricultural production facility was not considered, unlike other villas that were designed in the country.

The interior of the villa had a circular hall that is surrounded by a balcony and has a domed ceiling. It was created in a design of a cathedral and was more aerated to accommodate more viewers in the hall. The architecture of the villa allows for the asymmetry of the landscape and creates a symmetrical whole. The feeling when approaching the villa makes it more attractive due to the design of a temple which connects the villa to the town. The portico located in the northwest acts as the termination of the straight carriage drive that is where the main gates are located.

Despite the efforts of Andrea Palladio in the mathematical design of the Villa, he never had the chance to see it completed as he died before its completion. The name La Rotonda was given to signify the circular hall that was centrally placed and the dome. From the outside, the architecture is square with a cross which captures the attention of people from a distance. It remains a unique renaissance in Italy which attracts people all over the world.
