Why managers should hire ethical workers and how to create a code of ethics

Managers should consider hiring ethical workers as this will help in minimizing any form of liability that may arise. This is because the organization will be able to perform and deliver as expected and promised based on the set ethical principles. This claim is based on the rationale that ethical workers will act in compliance with such tenets. This is unlike the case for unethical workers, who will work in violation of the ethical principles, thus putting the organization at liability, legal liability (Robbins, & Coulter, 2007).

Apart from that, the other reason as to why managers should hire ethical workers is because this will increase the chances of meeting the needs of the stakeholders such as the customers and the shareholders (Schermerhorn, 2010). For instance, ethics may dictate that a client should not be ignored at any point, and this could be based on the premise that the client is the king. When an employee observes this, there will be increased chances of meeting almost all the needs of the clients. Consequently, when the needs of the clients are met on observation of the set ethical principles, there are increased chances that the wealth of the shareholders will be increased.

In the organization in which I am working for, I could create a code of ethics by benchmarking on the best practices by our competitors as far as ethics is concerned. This will help me in highlighting the elements that seem viable for consideration. Apart from that, I can also create a code of ethics in my organization through researching on the set regulations by the government on ethics.
