Judaism, Christianity and Islam
It is imperative to note that Judaism, Christianity, and Islam happen to be the three most influential monotheistic religions across the globe, all of them having started in the Middle East. Even though there are similarities between the three religions, there are also differences. The following paragraphs illustrate two ways in which Islam, Christianity and Judaism do differ.
The three religions differ in the way they understand the nature of God. The fact that they perceive God differently makes each one of them unique. For example, according to Christians, God is believed to consist of three distinct persons, including the Father, the Son, and also the Holy Spirit. On the other hand, the Muslims are different in the sense that they see God as Allah, who is not a trinity. As such, Muslim view God as strict Monotheism. This is not the same with Judaism as followers of this religion view God as one whom they call Yahweh with some referring to Him as Jehovah (Case, & Chavez, 2017). There is no way that such understanding can be covered or confused between these religions as each sect has its own unique Holy Book that emphasizes on the belief. Christians, for instance, have the Bible, which is believed to have come from God through the ancient prophets. The Muslims have the Quran, which was issued to Prophet Mohammed. Judaism has what is known as Tanakh, which is recognized by Christians as the old testament.
The understanding of scriptural writings among these three religions is also different, something that also shows their differences. In this case, one principle or truth is perceived differently from one religion to the other. For instance, Jesus Christ in Islam is recognized as Isa, who was born of Virgin Mary and was then sent to the world as a prophet and was not divine. When it comes to Judaism, Jesus Christ is viewed as an ordinary Jew, and as such, he is not taken to be divine nor is He a Messiah (Corrigan, et al., 2016). However, as far as Christians are concerned, Jesus is the Son of the living God and was sent to the world as the means to redeem it from sin. His mission is defined differently by the three religions hence depicting their differences.
