The implementation of the Affordable Care Act
The implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) aimed at improving healthcare for households with 100-400% of the federal poverty level. This has seen budget deficits in a bid to lower insurance premiums for the consumers while raising operational costs for healthcare providers. In my industrial setting at Aiken Regional Medical Centers, there have been radical changes as a result of ACA. For starters, in a bid to lower the healthcare costs, the ACA has provided incentives to ensure innovation in the healthcare sector. This includes funding for research in healthcare information systems to ensure the efficient delivery of services to patients. When launched in 2009, congress committed over $10 billion to facilitate health IT. This has overseen radical health reforms to reduce costs, improve quality, and to provide access and coverage of health information. At Aiken Regional Medical Center, the implementation of ACA has seen smooth delivery of services in providing quality care to patients.
Other than providing insurance services, the ACA has helped streamline some of the delivery of healthcare services at the institution. ACA aims to realign the healthcare system to ensure long-term changes, and this has been visible from the time of the implementation of the policy. The aim has always been to provide quality care for the patients through different programs such as Medicare and Medicaid. Over the years, this has ensured that the organization provides quality care to reduce readmission rates by the patients while ensuring patient safety.
The ACA as provided the institution with a strategic direction aimed at innovation and testing out these innovations with the community. This has helped the organization re-evaluate some of the policies and further improving the policies to ensure the quality and delivery of affordable care to patients. However, bla bla argues that some unintended consequences come with changes that interact with ACA provisions and the realities of the healthcare marketplaces. However, the institution has developed strategies to ensure that some of the ideologies align with those of ACA.
