The video by Thomas Insel describes significant steps on how health of the brain can be made. Despite the availability of significant progress in treatment and knowledge of cardiac infections, little efforts have been put to treat mental disorders. Dr. Insel asserts that conceptualization should be made to get better advances in apprehending disorders like Schizophrenia and depression. The disease schizophrenia is a mostly researched disorder of psychology. Studies link it with brain abnormalities tissues and predispositions genetic. It is a disease affecting the brain which manifests mind symptoms. However, Schizophrenia tries to involve loss of interconnectivity across the cognitive network. Schizophrenia engages not one brain isolation abnormality but challenges with various brain interconnections and region. In the slow-developing stage, Schizophrenia, which might be chronic, containing it might be stressful. Scientists discovered weird behaviors could bring about the causes of strange chemicals in the brain.
Individuals with Schizophrenia reveal disruptions in a wide range in terms of their sight and hearing. Disruptions may be experienced in their normality in thinking processes (Tsuang et al., 1997, p. 1). Schizophrenia is a complex disorder when it comes to etiology or manifestations of signs and symptoms. On the other hand, depression most common type of psychiatric condition; this should be recognized by health practitioners and physicians for new medication. Care and treatment for disorders of depression include diagnosis and assessment, appropriate selection, and evidence-based treatments. The World Health Organization in 2017 announced depression as a cause of functional disability around the globe. Psychotherapy based on evidence abound, the existence of antidepressant medications and non-invasive treatment on somatic are accessible (Lam, 2018, p. 2). Most depressed individuals tend to possess a chronic or recurrent course, resulting in the brain’s high impairment functioning. Depression contributes to disability and deaths, which are premature.
From the video, Dr. Thomas said that leukemia comes from medical issues, and cardiac infections decreased over time. Most of the suicidal cases are closest to mental infections such as Schizophrenia and depression. Dr. Insel believes that mental illness problems can be referred to as either behavioral or mental disorders. One having brain diseases or brain circuits is likely to suffer from a disorder of the behavior.
Getting to understand mental health of an individual is significant to the body as far as psychology is concerned. Common reported mental disorders are depression and Schizophrenia, thus to boost psychology functioning through practicing mental health, a person should try to avoid severe swings of moods, among others. Mental health is important at each stage of life; therefore, it should be upheld at all costs. Mental health determines how people cope with stress and make choices, which is considered an integral part of health. Psychology is improved by promoting mental health.
Dr. Thomas Insel vividly describes how depression and Schizophrenia affect an individual’s health if not handled well. Depression and Schizophrenia are most reported illnesses worldwide. However, to prevent and handle depression and improve psychology functionality, mental health is encouraged.
