Abercrombie And Fitch Co.
Abercrombie and Fitch (A&F) is an American retail company dealing with casual wear. The company was founded in 1982 by David Abercrombie as Abercrombie & Co. In 1904 Ezra Fitch became a partner, and the company’s name changed to Abercrombie & Fitch. Since then, the company has expanded into a global business(Eaton, 2020), servicing different demographics. This is the organizational structure of A&F as of August 2020.
The Board
The board of directors serve as the ultimate decision-making body of the company. They manage the affairs and business of Abercrombie and Fitch and they ensure the interests of the stockholders are served. Directors are elected yearly by the stockholders to oversee management. The current members of the board of directors are Kerrii Anderson, Felix Carbullido, Susie Coulter, Sarah Gallagher, James A. Goldman, Michael Greenless, Archie Griffin, Helen McCluskey, Fran Horowitz, Charles Perrin and Nigel Travis. The board has a Non-Executive chairman who is currently Terry Burman.
Executive Offices
The company is headed by a chief executive officer (CEO) – the current CEO is Fran Horowitz (who is also a member of the board of directors). Other executive officers are President of theGlobal Brands (Kristin Scott); Senior Vice President and General Counsel (Gregory Henchel); Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CF0) (Scott Lipesky). All of these other executive officers report to the CEO. Other officers who report directly to the CEO are Chief Human Resources Officer (John Gabrielli), Chief information officer (Matt Weger), Executive Vice President of Store and Brand Services (Amy Zehrer) and the Senior Vice President of Supply Chain and Procurement (Larry Grischow).
Executive officers like the Chief Information Officer and the Senior Vice President of Supply Chain and Procurement do not have other senior positions beneath them. They are, therefore, directly in charge of the employees and operations in their departments.
Accounting Department
The accounting department manages the finances of the company, and they keep records of the company’s financial history. The duties of this department are further divided into sub-departments. The heads of the various accounting sub-departments are; Senior Director of Accounting Operations (Sam Bosson), Vice President of Corporate Strategy & Transformation (Jonathan Steinitz), and Vice President OF Finance and Corporate Controller (Joe Frericks). They all report to the CFO.
Human Resources Department
This department mainlt deals with issues affecting the personnel, eg compensation, training, employee relations, recruitment, and workplace safety. The Director, Talents Acquisition (Ryan Hoselton); Executive Vice President, Human resources (James Bierbower); Vice President, Human Resources (Erin Crotty), and Vice President – Sourcing (Justin Flowers) all head the various employees in their specificsub-departments, and they report to the Chief Human Resources Officer.
Store AndBrand Services
An executive officer heads this department, and it deals with the affairs of the different offshoot brands of the company like Abercrombie Kids and Hollister Co. Under him are theSenior Vice President and General Manager of Abercrombie kids (Kelly Hall), and the senior Vice President of Men’s and Women’s design (Aaron Levine).
Legal Department
The legal department is responsible for all legal matters. This department is headed by the Senior Vice President and General Counsel. Beneath him is the Senior Legal Counsel (Lindsay Capps) and then the other employees in the department.
Marketing Department
This department deals with the promotion of the company’s products and the brand. The marketing department is headed by the president of global brands, who reports directly to the CEO. Beneath this position is the Senior Vice President and Head of Marketing (Carey Krug).
