Cycle of socialization

Introduction

The cycle of socialization is a process of knowing our identity through interaction with our society in which we get to know more about how we socialize with people of a different race, color, religion, language and sexual orientation without any prejudice. The cycle of socialization has made me realize my rights, not to discriminate people against color, race, dialect and sex orientation.

Aspects affected the decision to come to Marquette

Socialization with friends and high school schoolmates provided a good ground for my decision to come to Marquette University. Most of my peers grew up under an excellent educational background. We would discuss matters concerning education most of the times with them, and this helped me a lot for my quest for further knowledge. Most of my schoolmates were studying at Marquette University, and every time I would look at them, all I saw was a reflection of good morals. It gave me the urge to come to this institution to see for myself the kind of values they instill to these people. I realized that students know how to interact with many students who are of different races, religion, and language. It was a motivation for me to come here because that’s what I grew up knowing that we are all equal.

Influence on the course of study chosen.

Most of the times, I would meet a student from this university, he or she always came from my faculty. I grew fonder with them, and we would interact most of the time. Whenever they were free they would invite me to the school and hang out with them. I became more inquisitive and wanted to know more about the course, and it captivated me to come and pursue it. Influence on the choice of study chosen came from my friends. I could never have wanted to bear the thought of being away from them as we used to get along well because they were people you could emulate their behaviors.

Questions to be answered.

As I was growing, I used to hear my dad saying gay and lesbian people should not interact with other people. I grew knowing gay, and lesbians are evil people, and whenever I would see or hear any trace of them around, I would go far away from them. I came to notice that they are just human beings like us, and the only discrepancy is their sexual orientation. Most of them have been molested in their childhood and decided to hate the opposite sex and preferred the same sex. If the whole world could comprehend a mere fact that these people are entitled to equal rights, then the world would be a better place free from discrimination.

Conclusions

It is clear that lack of socialization with people of different race, colour, religion and sex orientation causes a lot of discrimination. My cycle of socialization has improved my lucidity and realized that we are all equal no matter those differences.
