The policy implications of solid and hazardous waste

Discussion Forum Questions

The policy implications of solid and hazardous waste are essential functions of the local government. They are set to protect human health and the environment.  Some of the effective policies and implications for solid and hazardous waste are the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) (Rodenbeck & Falk, 2016). Both the (CERCLA) and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act deal in storage and safe handling of solid and hazardous waste through monitoring programs such as inspections, reviews, and taking actions and procedures where necessary. Additionally, the political and economic regulatory discussions have brought the question of what constitutes solid and hazardous waste? and it’s a contribution to economic growth and development.  These questions have led to the introduction of legal laws and requirements that meets the overall disposal system. Moreover, the society together with the disposal companies has requested the regulatory authorities to introduce detailed technology and criteria for managing solid and hazardous waste such as automated waste collection, improved recycling, and modernized landfill techniques.

The policy implication that supports safe food and drugs are drawn from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). These regulatory measures are set to protect citizens including vulnerable groups such as babies, young children, the elderly, sick patients, and expectant women. Moreover, technology has shaped the food and drug sector by providing various measures that promote the development of safety and quality drugs and foodstuffs. Additionally, several political and economic regulations have been set to assess and review all the imported food and drug materials. Furthermore, the social factors have also promoted the policy implications by improving hygienic conditions to counter infectious diseases that can originate from unsafe drug and foodstuffs.

As the president of the United States, I would consider having a clean environment as the most essential factor.  This is because a clean and healthy environment is not only good for the wellbeing of citizens but it is also reducing the average number of citizens who may get ill.  Also, a clean environment is important for conducting business which will equally improve government revenue. Lastly, I would budget for a clean environment. This is because the majority of Americans say the protection of the environment should be given priority by the government during budget allocations. Additionally, a polluted environment is not safe for existence and may cause various diseases and ailments. Therefore, budgeting for a clean environment is the best way of correcting and preventing these diseases.
