DEVELOPMENTAL MILESTONES.
When the conversation on child development is initiated, the major idea that is put into consideration is the developmental milestone. (Mortensen, E. L. (2018). The developmental milestone refers to the achievement attained by children as they grow, at different ages. The different achievements involves: physical, emotional, cognitive, communication achievement and social skills. The various developmental milestones are gained at different ages as a child grows. The developmental milestones include:
The physical developmental milestone.
The milestone is associated with both fine motor skills and the larger motor skills. The larger motorskill is whereby a child develops skills such as sitting up, standing , and walking or a child may crawl. The large moter skills are the first to develop in a childs life. the fine motor skills are whereby the child exhibit precise skills either writing, drawing, or holding a cup in a proper way.( Miettunen, J. (2017).
Cognitive developmental milestone.
In this developmental milestone, the child acquire skills to use her brains in different tasks. The child gains ability to think, solve problems and learn new skills. This may be exhibited when an infant uses cognitive skills to respond to different facial expression or when a child in kindergarten uses different mental ability to learn how to shape letters.
The other developmental milestone are
Social and emotional.
At this milestone, the child gains ability to interact with other children productively. The child gains skills to associate with one another and form new relations. The child also exhibits ability to understand their own emotions and also respond to other peoples emotions, such as joy.
Communication developmental milestone.
This milestone is associated with skills in nonverbal and verbal skills. This may be seen when a child at kindergarten learns to pronounce different words or when a one year old learns to call their mom or dad.( Mortensen, E. L. 2018)
Factors affecting development of a child and learning ability
The development of a child is based on, cognitive development, communication, fine motor skills, larger motor skills, emotional and social development.( Spencer, M. B. (2017). Some of the factors affecting development and learning of children include;
Child’s individuality.
the child’s development and learning may be affected by the child’s intrinsic motivation. The child learns more when it is self directed. The indrive motivates the increased ability to acquire new skills.( Mortensen, E. L. 2018)
Family.
The family is the first school in a child’s lifetime. Most skills developed in a child are majorly through apprentship . Various developmental milestones are affected by famile. For example, the social milestone may be greately influenced by how the family of a child interact with one another.
Culture.
The culture of a community may affect the development of a child either positively or result in returded development. Cultural activities such as dancing copetitions may enable a child to gain confidence and also learning new skills.( Spencer, M. B. (2017).
Society.
The society is also another major facto in childs development. The society forms the base of an example of an outside world in a child’s life. therefore, the child cognitive skills may be dependent on the child’s surrounding, the society.
Conclusion.
The development milestones are the achievement in child’s ability to perform different task. The milestone involves; cognitive, social, communication, and physical development. The vaqrious milestones are attained at different stages in child’s development. The development of a child is also affected by factors such as, child’s play, family, society, child’s individualism, and society. The factors may result to positive development or retarded development.( Mortensen, E. L. (2018).
