Science and Technology in Solving Global Warming

The global climate is paramount to every living being on the planet. If there is the alteration of the environment in any way, the living creatures experience devastating effects. In the last fifty years, the world climate has experienced sudden climatic change that has destroyed the global. Moreover, the revolution in industrialization has increased emissions of gases that contain carbon dioxide, which absorb the sun rays, which has led to an increase in high temperature on the planet. Also, the politician, economist scientists, and all stakeholders in the environmental conservations have conducted several meetings to deliberate on the climatic changes on the globe. In that account, the essay will examine the scientific evidence that global warming and the possible solutions that global citizens can take to avert the global warming menace.

The temperature on the planet earth has increased rapidly in the last five decades. The temperature measurement in Europe and the America content during the previous two thousand years when compared with the temperature measurement during the five last decades years indicate the average temperature for the prior fifty years has increased significantly.as a result, the ice in the Arctic Circle has retreated as well as the glaciers on the mountains on all continents. Besides, the permafrost has been shrinking, and the depth of its active layer has increased. The above examples indicate global temperature has been on the rise for the last decades as a result of global warming.

The ocean temperature has risen in the past few years, and its effects on the planet are evident. Several world catastrophes on the planet have occurred as a result of global warming — the absorbed heat increases on the earth surface, and the rise in heat the wave’s temperature. As the temperatures of the wave’s improvements, the waves gain more energy, which is hugely destructive. For example, hurricane Katrina left more than one thousand dead and more than five hundred fatalities (Alexander & Allen 2013, 58). This hurricane Katrina was as a result of the heat on the tropical ocean, which was a result of global warming.

The precipitation in the last sixty years has increased. Even though the precipitation records were not accurate in the past, the increase of the precipitation level in the troposphere, land, and ocean is evident from the year 1980(Maslin 2014, 19). The change in the precipitation can be observed in the different continent. For example, in Europe and America, the rain has increased in winter more than summer, and the fall of rainfall in northern Asia are occurring more frequently than before(Maslin 2014, 26). Furthermore, dry weather conditions have increased rampantly in South Africa and the Mediterranean. In that account, the scientists have observed increased and decreased trends of precipitation globally due to the climate change associated with increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

The sea level of different oceans across the globe has been increasing and decreasing annually. Even though measuring the sea level can be difficult, the scientists have managed to measure the sea level using the land-based tide gauge benchmarker. From the observation, the sea level in Scotland has been rising from three millimeters per year while the England sea level has been decreasing with two millimeters annually (Maslin 2014, 32). In that account, the world sea level has risen with an estimate of eighteen centimeters from the year nineteen ninety-three to year two thousand and ten: however, the vertical earth movement considerations in the measurement of the sea level. In spite of the vertical and horizontal earth movement, the sea level changes are significant from the last two decades due to an increase in the temperature on the planet earth.

The health of the global community has deteriorated for the last decades ago primarily for young children, the elderly, and those who are living in impoverish state. The rise in the humidity and temperature related illness are evident across the globe. Malaria, rift valley fever, and stroke are examples of diseases which are prevalence in the area which is associated with the high humidity and high temperatures (Maslin 2014, p 38). The rise in the decorating health conditions is not only affecting humans but also plants and animals. In that regard, global climate change has a devastating effect on all living beings and plantations.

The government across the globe needs to adopt the use of wind power to reduce the emission of the carbon dioxide emitted in the atmosphere. People can harness the wind energy using the windmills and the turbines, these two instruments reduce the speed the air and as a result transferring the power to the blades. Consequently, the energy from the wind does not pollute the environment (Biello, 2019). Currently, about one percent of the world population uses the wind as a source of electricity. In that account, wind power is a technological solution to solve global warming if people can utilize energy effectively.

The scientist has invented other various measures of capturing carbon dioxide and hence preventing the emission of the gas in the global atmosphere (Biello, 2019). Even though a lot of the companies across the world has not adopted the techniques, the carbon capturing method is useful in reducing the effect of increased temperature in the atmosphere. An example of a vent fall plant in Sweden, the expert has used the plant effectively to seize the carbon dioxide gas. However, the plantation is also useful in the capturing of the carbon dioxide gas. In that regard, the governments and private organizations should embark on tree and farm of algae plant which consumes the gas at high speed (Gore, 2019). The emission of carbon can be reduced significantly if all the organizations and institution adopt the methods of carbon gas capturing.

The other possible solution to solve the menace of climate changes the use of solar energy. The energy generation is from the sun rays; therefore, it has no detrimental effect on the environment. People, as well as the organization, can embrace the use of solar energy in homes and companies (Gore, 2019). However, installing the solar energy plant may be expensive due to the photovoltaic panels that such plants use (Biello, 2019). In spite of the high cost, solar energy is an alternate technological solution in reducing global warming.

In summary, global warming has caused climatic changes across the continents. The effects of climate change have evidence through changes in temperatures, precipitation, sea levels, and increased health problems due to high heat and humidity. The changes in these weather elements have caused significant death and fatality over the past three decades: millions of people have lost their lives as a result of the catastrophes that are associated with the effects of climate change. However, there is a scientific and technological solution that can solve the situation if they are adopted and implemented. The use of vent fall plants in Sweden is an example of a technical solution to control global warming. Also, the application of science through plant plantation to control the amount of carbon in the atmosphere is an alternative solution to combat climate changes. In that account, both science and technology are a useful tool to control global warming.
